Should I do a water change if I added a large amount of sand if my nutrient levels are all in a good range?

I usually only do water changes on an as needed basis. About once every 1-2 months.

Why would you?

I fail to see why one would no anything but your ordinary changes.

Really? I thought sand gives out alkalinity when the ph drops. I thought when the water becomes more acidic it dissolves the sand which adds back calcium and alkalinity.

Unless your pH is below pH ~ 7.7, it cannot dissolve.

A small bit of alk and magnesium can bind to the surfaces of calcium carbonate.
