Hey guys!
We were affected by Hurricane Beryl and went without power for 6 1/2 days! Thankfully though I was prepared!! I was able to use two battery operated bubblers when we lost power in the middle of the night until the storm had passed and we were able to go grab the small generator I purchased for the tank. The little generator kept the tank running on life support for the remaining time and I am happy to report that we had not a single loss- not even a snail!
With that said- they are projecting we are going to have an active season. While Beryl was only a Cat 1 it did severe damage to the area and I can imagine what a 2+ would cause. This raises the question on what we would do if we were hit with a stronger storm and had to evacuate the area. Since these storms change paths so quickly I am trying to prepare for a situation where if we had to jump and run and I had no choice but to leave the tank how I would best help the fish survive until we could get back home.
In the event we have time to gather our belongings and take them with us- what would be the bare minimum to transport and prepare for having them displaced from their tank for a length of time? We have two large dogs and a cat that would also be traveling so there wouldn't be a ton of room to bring anything that isn't essential for any of us.
