Why does video of my tank look so much better than pics?

My post was tongue in cheek, but the op refers to a few of them with links.

Just throwing this into the mix: http://aquariumcameraapp.com.
Removes a ton of actinic light from shots. I'd love some feedback on it!

Hi John, I just purchased your aquarium cam app and will be trying it out later today. I already like the orange gel setting it has so thanks for the heads up!

Just a quick update. I'm still finishing up the Android version of the app. Hope to have it ready for testing in the next week. It has been a mega pain on Android... mega. I'm fearful of what the device fragmentation will do to testing. I'm going to need a TON of help from you guys (I fear).

Great to hear! I have an android myself, so can't wait. I signed up on your site to help test the android version.

Any progress? I'd be very interested in the app. I have a Galaxy S8+ and I can get decent results with Pro mode, but I am still not happy.

So so close. Just working on automatic gel mode features right now. That's been the tricky part, really. I'll keep you all posted!

Just get an S8... the stock camera app has all the cool camera setting thingies and a white balance filter, but I've found that auto works pretty darn well. These were taken under Kessil A160WE on 30% color. (0% is all blue, 100% is all white) You can see the super glue under the frags is white, so this is the true color you would see with your eyes.

Brilliant pics! Seriously amazing.

The biggest lesson I learned from doing this app is that everyone is running their lights completely different. When I first launched the app it was a pretty simple slider. Myself and a few other reefers had a decent amount of white light mixed with the blue. This slider did the trick. Then the reviews started coming in. Bad bad reviews. And I realized that the app basically needed to be able to account for almost any lighting setup. So now it has all these fancy controls for enhanced white balance and color balance and the dynamic orange lens filter. But for my tank, I really just needed some more powerful white balance controls. It’s just to say, a particular device or an aquaclip isn’t a silver bullet. You might get lucky with your device and lighting setup but I’d never advise anyone buy a certain phone to get perfect results.
