Nice scape, I like the simple clean look!!!! what's ur PAR at?
I haven’t retested since I upgraded the hybrid bulbs from blue+ & actinic to blue+ & coral plus, so that should give me more par. I also upgraded from 360we’s to 360X’s. Which is about equal par, but the controller lets me crank up the UV which gives them a little more PUR over the 360WE’s. The spectrum looks cooler to ;)
Prior to those upgrades I had 200 sandbed, 230 bottom 1/4, 280 1/2 way, 350 3/4, 880 just below the surface. The coral plus bulbs are much brighter so my top 1/2 is most likely higher par now. One day when my budget allows I’d love to get 2 Gen4 30XR pros and call it a day.

That is some solid PAR!!! I have the Gen4 pros and they are pretty intense I'm slowly raising mine and at 20% when i tested i was getting 100 par, so when I get them to 60 or 70% along with my T5's im sure ill be in the 500's.

I ended up rush ordering the frag rack previously mentioned, simple and effective design, and it was available for next day delivery :)

Hopefully this one is good, reviews seemed positive. Anyone have experience with this rack? I have a few hours to cancel if so :p

Do you QT your new coral? Do you dip? If so what’s your process? I have read many just wandering your process.
Yea usually. I was using revive but it’s pretty harsh on sps, I might try reef primer, Adam from Battlecorals swears by it. I dip for 6-12 mins depending on the type of coral, blasting the frag with a turkey baster. If anything at all comes off I do a 30 day minimum qt in my smaller tank re dipping every 5 days. If it’s clean after the first dip and I trust the source then it goes directly in my display.
However with this shipment, I don’t want to lose any corals do to a harsh dip, I absolutely trust wwc and know they would be screwed if they had pests and it would be all over this forum if people were getting pests from a major distributor. Therefor I’m just going to temp acclimate and plop these babies in.
I also want their pods that are in the bag and attached to the coral, I love adding more biodiversity. I’m hoping WWC has some pod that I don’t, their tanks look like their coral is from Pandora! (Avatar planet)

i dipped a couple of acros that died overnight after doing the dip in revive. i still like that stuff, but idk.

i didn't dip the ice fire echinata.. i read a lot of people saying dipping the smoothskin acros was iffy, so i avoided doing that one. a couple months later i got a hawkins echinata, dipped it and the next day it was dead. might just be my tank and not the dip but who knows

Hawkins are pretty sensitive, that’s one i for sure wouldn’t dip, or if I had to, wouldn’t dip long at all. Lps seem to do ok with revive.

I’m still bummed you lost your ice fire man, that stinks ! :(

well the guy i got it from was a hobbyist type guy and he mentioned he had monti eating nudis so i was definitely going to get my dip on. and the frag wasn't on a frag disk but rather a small rock.. so. i'll definitely get another hawkins but maybe direct from ora or a more reputable seller

i know i was bummed. i was like errrr it's looking a lot extra white today lol. kinda held off a few hours to see if it'd change but i shined a flashlight on it and there was no blue tips or anything anymore. kinda mad at the lfs for a crappy glue job, but tbh i suck at gluing too so even if i took it off the disk it probably would've fallen the way the frag was cut

Lol I feel your pain. Did you leave it in there? I’m sure you’ve seen my pink lemonade miracle Pic I’ve posted a few times. That thing was beyond dead looking, if there’s a will there’s a way. ;)

nah i took it out. didn't want to risk it with the rock on top of things.. i probably shouldn't have bought anything, but $10 bubblegum digi frag! lol.. oh and a pretty large and encrusted as heck garf bansai which was surprisingly hard to find. his tank looked clean, but when he told me about the nudis i was a little worried

Whew did my water change, now I remember why I hate doing them lol, so tiring with my waste water setup. I wanted to get my sandbed this water change since I’ve never done it on this tank. It was amazing how much dark stuff came up, terrifying actually lol. Lots of spaghetti worms to.
