I was informed that the reason the algae was developing was because my light was not strong enough, but ever since I raised the intensity, the polyps have closed up and more algae is visible.

What can I do? The polyps open but not much.

A couple of things. If you raised the light intensity very quickly, corals can easily bleach out. Also, if you are seeing algae on your birdsnest, then that branch is already a gonner. I would cut back any dead branches, lower the light intensity a bit and see how the coral responds. Best of luck.

I raised it 5% each each week for 5 week. It had a tiny amount of algae when I bought it dang it... Know I will know.

I will cut the intensity by 5% and cut the branches that have any amount of algae on it.

FLOW, how is it? You may have light but flow is really important with finicky birdsnests.

BTW, I'm not seeing dead branches. I see polyps on all of them branches.

One more thing, the pointy BN have short polyps... Been a while since I had a pointy one. I may be mistaken.

Its about 12" in front of a gyre on pulse mode 50%.

Polyps on all branches but very tiny compared to july 15.

Algae was very minimal, until it wasn't then I increased the light and it got worse.

This pic has growth tips. A little browned out though.

I think your going to have to lower light intensity by 10 or 20%

This may keep fading, sadly.

They are really not for beginners even though they are often sold as one.

Lower lights, remove branches with algae. Got it thanks.
