Yeah. Check this out. This is one of the little critters. It was laying there chilling during low tide. Also there have been probably millions of snails hugging the rocks waiting for the tide to return. Come to think of that nowadays they would have been the perfect clean-up crew ...Welcome!!! To think you have a couple of hermits to thank...
Yeah, it is always like "let's play a game" when I have to leave my tank for more than 3-4 days. But usually nothing bad happens when I am away for longer. The friend who looks after my tank does this since I have tanks (like 15+ years with 9 years of reefing). Also she has a PhD in Chemistry. So she knows how things work together there as well and she can do tests without me showing or guiding her. The problem here was that - first - I was not prepared for a heat wave and - second - things have been growing so well that I would have never had the idea to ask her to check for P and/or N. Lessons learned here for sureOh man, I am so sorry to hear that. I have had things go south on more than one occasion since we take 2week plus vacations too. However, not that south. I feel for you.
Everything else looks pretty good. Good luck bringing it back around!
