I used black on my last tank, and I ended up adding a little bit of sand to the back side of the tank to dive it more depth, the black being non reflective just dulled it out.

that being said sea foam is what I am considering for the next build

No poll or I would choose other. All of my barebottom tanks are just the glass. I understand people wanting the protection but I've never seen the need for anything on the bottom. As to color it's all going to look the same in a year or so regardless of what color it is. At least mine do because I'm not cleaning the bottom.

Paint my bottoms white although I always have substrate and thinking being should some substrate excuse the bottom then it might be harder to see.

Have considered leaving unpainted and periodically flashing a light from underneath to observe the microfauna. No clue how that would help but might also excuse any black spots needing attention or avoidance

There is a need

Elos tank bottoms are sandwiched glass

With huge circles of silicone holding them together

White for protecting the glass from avalanches and so it looks nice where the sand blows away.
