Has anyone used this AIO system before?

So here's my 2 cents, for filtration, I'd use a caddy with filter floss. Amazon has a kit with regular filter floss and 100 micron floss and that should honestly cover your filtration. For flow, ya, I'd add a pump/wavemaker. I just put a Jebao Mow-3 in my IM15 and really like it, it is extremely small so it isn't an eyesore at all. Then aim your return nozzles to the surface for agitation. For an ATO, I bought an autoaqua, they're about $50, but, you've already ruled out an ato, just keep it in mind.

I use the apex atk v2. Lots of mixed reviews but so far no issues. It has two optical sensors and a float on it. If the water rises to a certain point the float blocks the water from entering the tank. it is also set to auto shutoff if it runs for 5 minutes. You will find keeping up with the top off manually will become annoying and make traveling impossible without somone checking on your tank frequently. You also get the added bonus of better salinity stability. Maybe after some time without the ato she will change her mind.

This is difficult with an aio setup, but I also ensure my Reservoir does not hold enough water to cause the sump to overflow in case all safety measures fail.
This was a beautiful idea! I told her "babe look, no no like really look! If I get the 25 gallon system but only fill it up with 20 gallons and then have a 5 gallon res. There's no chance it'll overflow and if I have all these do hickeys it'll be fine!" She said she wasn't listening but her grin said she might have been just a iittle so maybe there's hope for me yet!!

WaveMaker would replace powerhead?

Never had an issue with either overfilling. Tunze has an adjustable time out feature. You can also run a third optical or float sensor to shut it off through apex.
Ha!! Got her back on board, so what's an apex?

By powerhead do you mean the 2 little return nozzles?

Some people like them some do not. I personally find that all in one tanks do not allow enough flexibility even an inexpensive tank like my 15”x15”x24” from petco can become a successful system and it is much easier to add or delete support equipment as needed.

The IM25 Lagoon has been around a long time and is a very popular tank.

I love mine... I run an inexpensive ATO, Jeboa Powerhead and filter socks. I got a 10 pack of socks for 60 bucks from IM. Should last me 10 years with rotation. In my opinion, the best thing about these tanks is that they are shallow and so lighting requirements are not crazy expensive. I run 2 Kessil Tuna Blue 80s and they are working great! With the mesh top, you will totally want an ATO. You should totally get one of these tanks! And, get live ocean rock to start with...

Here is a thread to get you started:

Then come back with any unanswered questions!

Yes, powerheads and WaveMakers are the same thing.

I bought an IM 25 in March and love it. Glass is thick and clear and pump is absolutely silent. I work from home and tank is 2 feet away all day and I do not hear the pump at all!

went with IM over WB because of pumps and lid.

I added Nero 3. Don’t use the sock, use filter floss. Don’t have an ATO but it’s not necessary IMO. just added the UV sterilizer; GHA won’t go away. I add carbon to media basket.

I highly recommend IM tanks.

What's Nero 3 and I won't be using the sock either, I volunteer at the aquarium where I live and I hate cleaning the sump bags lol

Edit: I also have no Idea what GhA means or what a uv sterilizer is for

GHA = Green Hair Algae, UV sterilizer is meant to kill pathogens.

Using live ocean rock will greatly reduce any kind of algae outbreak. UV is not necessary, but I have used one before and found it to be effective against Ich.
