I received a clean up crew order today and found this guy in the mix. It looks similar to a Nassaurius snail but lacks the tapering trailing foot and has smooth shell that resembles a fighting conch.

I'm not sure it could be cowrie, it has a protruding tube in the front like a nassarius. I don't like killing any marine animal but I have a gut feeling that it's predatory.

I could not make out the trunk in the picture. It's a little fuzzy. Then next guess would be either some sort of olive or cone snail. which is a good chance that it is predatory. I hate killing things too maybe put it in a smaller tank or container to see how it behaves. Maybe put another small snail or something in there with it to see if it attacks. Or just get rid of it either way

I think you got it with the Olive snail, thank you so much for the ID! I do have clams, so it will have to go.

Rob.D My best guess would be a Conus ebraeus. If you could take a picture of its underside shell structure I could probably identify it for sure.

This is the best I could do with my cell.

Yup. Conus ebraeus. A predator that you will find every morning on a stalk of your favorite coral. Mostly they eat worms at this stage. It will stab and eat fish when it gets a little bigger. It will stab you, too, so be careful. Although this species isn't as poisonous as some other Conus.

Anyone know what this guy is? He's like a snail but no real shell; instead where his shell should be there is kind of like a "hump" or something. The "hump" moves as his body moves and appears to be soft, or at least not near as hard as a shell. He appears to be a great cuc member tho as he grazes on algae non stop

Anybody have any idea what these are. The white circled things look and swim like little jelly fish, the black circled things (and there are a lot of these all over my rocks) seem to be attached by like a string and I think when they detach they become the jelly fish looking things.

Looking for an ID on this crab I just discovered. Any thoughts?

Description: white carapace with mottled black spots, red brown claws, evenly sized. Not terribly hairy. Pentagonal-shaped carapace.

Does your crab have pointed claws? I'm assuming it's a Xanthid species by the looks of it though. Will eat anything and everything.

First, I believe that the "black circled things" are Limpets. They will show up in the hundreds, but most don't survive for long. Then you'll have another outbreak of them. They're harmless. And the jellyfish things are just that, jellyfish. They won't live for long in your tank. Do you use NSW?
