Would love to hear everyone's experience with Goni in SPS conditions. I think think we have all read that Goni do well in low light and low flow. I've seen amazing LPS tank with long extending healthy looking goinopora. I don't have that lol. Lowest par in my tank is like 250-350+ range on lowest rocks. The flow is strong but I try to keep it randomized so the polyps aren't constantly beat in the same direction. So far so good. This is an area that I didn't want to have sps but needed a space filler. These were tiny frags added over the last 9 months are are all growing.
I feed benepets a few times per week, Vo's concoction once in a while. I haven't been dosing specific trace minerals but my last few ICP have consistently shown low manganese, nickel, zinc, fluoride, iodine, copper, iron and some others that I'm forgetting. Weekly water changes alone haven't been keeping up with the demand so I recently started adding Tropic marin A+K .

Share away! Would love to learn from your experience.

I think the goni keepers need some more pics and a fts to answer your question appropriately :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

My sps are beat to crap coming out of AEFW quarantine. I'm trying not to focus on them while they are coloring up and recovering lol. LPS focus for now haha. I do have a new Goni frag sitting in my frag tank under a radion (250 par). Maybe I'll add it into the display in a week or 2. It was kind of a fresh cut so I'm letting it heal some more.

The recovery is the untold battle, the difference between colonies and frags. Took years for me to realize that those big beautiful colonies don't get there without setbacks..

I’ve got 7 Goni’s in my mixed reef - more than half are acro’s with 2 clams - under halides with high flow. They love it. The low light thing is what led light users say about all corals.
Pics please!! Any special care for the goni's? I've read alot about manganese...(?)

Sorry man. It’s a holiday long weekend in Canada so I’m out for the weekend.

I do add a few drops of manganese every week but I’m not religious about it. I dose all for reef daily and I understand that AFR has manganese included.

Put them in a mature tank with good lighting and good flow and they will do well.

Yeah I would say moderate-high light & flow is more accurate, that's what keep my tiny frag in, and its loving it.

What's the secret sauce to gonis? You say low light but then you have them in 250 par? Do you dose iron, manganese, anything else?

Not sure if you were responding to me. If so, it’s recommended low light lower flow, but in an sps tank we usually won’t have that. I’m not dosing a specific trace but do weekly water changes 15% and dose tropic Marin A+K.

I got a few in different locations as I can take pictures of. And a few more that I’m not able to take pic
I don’t feed anything. Water change, kalwasser and all for reef.

Is this an amazeballs? Been waiting to try one. Gaining more confidence as I see my others do well. I hear that that one could be a little temperamental ?
