Amino Dosing is very important for the survival of some type of Buttons.
this is an example what happened to the orange buttons before i dosed amino's

purchased 2jul2012 (full stone of polieps)

after slow degeneration the whole colony was completely reduced , which left me with 2 clusters of 3 and 5 buttons.
These were in bad shape and were closed all the time
i cut is out of the big rock and glued it onto a small frag stone and stared dosing amino's
after one week amino's dosing a saw full polyp extension

this picture was taken 17aug2013 (a while after relocating and dosing amino's)

this picture was taken 31dec2013 after weekly dosing of amino's

Amazing tank! Thank you for sharing. I've been reefing for almost 12 years and still can't produce anything nearly as nice as this.

I saw you say you haven't done any significant water changes, but what do you dose? And what levels do you keep your parameters at?

It's easy when you know what to look for. It's hard when you needs to reinvent everything, as everyone tells another story, or keep key components a secret.
It's also much a trail and error traject, where you learn from your past mistakes.

I don't do water changes and manage to get a good understanding of water parameters while i was developing my own adjustable reefsalt. This knowledge i put into a toolbox an named it the DSR calculator.
Now i measure some key water parameters weekly/monthly and use the Calculator to do the additions.

Watch the movie how to use the calculator:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRFmHFQkJ1c&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Download the DSR Calculator - pre-release multi-language version
https://www.dropbox.com/s/thmj5xrz5vzvf0y/DSR Calc Eng_Dutch - pre-release.xls

the calculator is free to use for everyone.
The content will answer all your questions and maybe even do more than that.

Glenn I am getting ready to setup my 265 Gallon tank in April and downloaded your calculator I am pretty sure I will ask more questions at that time about your calculator. Also do you have a fish list posted anywhere if not can you give a list? And as everyone else has said your tank looks absolutely amazing...When my tank grows up I want it to look like yours...
