I'll have to dive into Google Scholar sometime to see what's known about anemone spawning in general. Likely it can at least be a starting point for carpets.

Btw, have you been doing any more gig propagation? I'm interested in developing a protocol for this, I'm in the planning stages currently. How long did the one in your video take to heal?

It's been a while since I've taken photos with the Nikon. On a separate note, I had another Acropora spawning event last night with 4 different colonies. Still trying to figure out how to get the gigantea to spawn....

What would you say encourages your acros to spawn so regularly? It's amazing that they do it without hiccups!

Great thread. Nice to see a successful fragging and encouraging to me to try and maybe frag my overgrown one. I love it too much to really sell since I'm not sure I would be able to get a healthy smaller replacement. It grows so fast I feel like I'm working against the clock.

Did you ever do a 2nd fragging on your purple? Any other success stories out there to increase the courage juice? =)

Below is over 13inches wide. BTW. The top left nem is the one I picked up from you some time back.

I did stick a small 3 inch rock when I first placed it next to the rock and into the sand. Given the current size, that rock is but a small pebble now in comparison which effectively means the gig is just attached to the bottom glass. Maybe the little rock provided some comfort but nothing that would offer anything for it to latch on to attach.

And for the green one, it could be GSP on roids.

I'm really not clear on why some Stichodactyla gigantea have longer tentacles than others shorter ones. Mine has very long flowing tentacles.

Awesome thread..have really enjoyed reading the posts and even more so, drooling over the pictures. Here are my 3 current gigs, including a signature "gig 'em special purple" from the man himself.
