Hi everyone!

I'm Andres,

I am thrilled to be part of this amazing community and are excited to learn from all the experienced reefers here.

I am embarking on an exciting project to set up a 180-gallon saltwater tank on my campus. While we've already watched the BRStv 5-minute guideline YouTube episodes, I still need some guidance on selecting the right equipment to get started.

I would greatly appreciate your recommendations on the following:
1. Best filtration systems for a 180-gallon tank.
2. Ideal lighting options for coral growth.
3. Effective protein skimmers.
4. Reliable heaters and chillers.
5. Powerheads and wavemakers for optimal water circulation.
6. Any other essential equipment we should consider.

This project means a lot to our club and the students involved, and we want to make sure we start off on the right foot. If you have any advice, suggestions, or resources that could help us, please let us know. Your expertise is invaluable to us.

Thank you in advance for your support and guidance. We look forward to sharing our progress with you and becoming active members of this fantastic community.

Happy Reefing!

All the info requested is available by researching. Asking is fine but you'll end up with opinions and a list of folks favorite gear and you'll still have to research it all.
Maybe listing possible livestock and what your goals are may help. Your budget will definatly be needed before gear can be recommended IMO

EDIT: Welcome aboard

Hi Andres! Former CSU grad here (I graduated from Humboldt State, now Cal Poly Humboldt, in 2013). Current high school science teacher. I used to be very involved on campus with student clubs and organizations. This is such a cool project that you are involved in!

Any reputable equipment should work fine, a lot of it comes down to preference, needs, and budget. Would be happy to give feedback on specific things.
