Well, I do not know the gph rating on your SunSun. However, if it's a 304b or similar, I would advise against using 3/4 pvc as they'll be too big to get adequate flow into the tank. Try to stay as close to possible as whatever the ID is of the stock tubing. As for the canister + wave maker on a 125, I believe you'll be fine.
In my head, I wrote that the Cross-Flow with the SunSun is for my 75g SW. Guess I didn't actually type it out. Oops! Sorry lol.
We're going to do something like what you did for your FX on our Fluval 406 that's running on the 125. The outflow from that filter is way too fast. It'll actually push our plants horizontal.

Still no build tread your slacking sir.

Top is my new 90
Bottom is the 75.
Same rock is in both. You can see how even though I could add more rock In the 90 how open it is.

It's the only flow I have in my FW 90g. I built a larger intake and a spray bar for ther return using 3/4" pvc. The spray bar is about 42" long and in three sections which are connected with unions. I did not use any cement so I can adjust each output section of the bar by aiming it. You'll see in the crappy pics that the furthest section is aimed up toward the surface, the middle section is aimed down at about the middle of the front glass and the section closest to the return line is aimed almost straight out. I've already noticed that I have practically no dead spots in the tank now.

I'm going to have to try something like this on the fx6....I thought it would just be too much flow but I'll have to give it a try now!

In saltwater the reef currents are crazy fast. It's hard to replicate those conditions. Fish will be fine but the corals will not. There is such a thing as too much flow. I would start of slow and work your way up in the flow department

In one of the saltwater groups I'm in on FB, a guy posted this pic. He calls it "firework cloves" and said that it can get invasive. I really like it, though. Do any of you have an opinion about it?

One of my favorite. Waiting for a friend to frag it. Keep it to an island and you'll be fine.

Awesome, thanks! Maybe I'll have 2 islands, one for the fireworks and one for the green star polyps :) Hopefully, my tank will look ok with 2 lol. How do these guys do with anemones? Should I worry about the anemone hurting them or vice versa?

Only if the nem wants to be close and personal with them. The bta nem will most likely want to be on or close to the main rock structure. The bta like find and crevice/hole to get it's foot in.

Most likely. Called us clowns and told us he could no longer call us maggots. He was upset about that. He did love to tell and throw are stuff and called it a tornado. Beds all flipped shoes all over the place and we had 15min to fix. We never seemed to be able to fix it in 15 so more yelling and we had to push the world back into orbit.

I see a lot of people in this forum have biocubes. Are they a better choice than your typical fish tank?
They are a all in one tank. Really easy to start with. It's a plug and play kind of tank. Pump and lights need to be upgraded.

@Katrina71 you have one

Hows the stand
My father-in-law is still in Texas, so it'll be at least mid-February before he starts on it. Probably closer to March. Apparently, he didn't get the memo that I want my SW tank NOW! Lol. And now I've been thinking (which can be dangerous, according to my husband), If he's already making a stand for our 125, why not do one for the 75, too? One with bigger cabinets, so if I wanted to eventually do the whole overflow into a sump thing, I could :)
To be honest, I'm tempted to go back to the 29g plan, just so I can get a tank started already!

Couple of things: My father in law will be back around Valentine's Day, so there may be a little glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel lol. Now that I have a more accurate timeline, I think it'll be easier for me to refrain from just saying screw it, let's switch the 29g instead. Also, I was looking at different online fish stores, just to see what's out there and decide if I want to tweak my stocking plan, and I saw a couple of fish I might have to have. One is the Randall's Assessor. What a great looking fish! And if I can't find the Indigo Hamlet, this might be another option so I can get blue in the tank. And it's captive bred, which is very appealing to me. The other fish is the Zebra Barred Dartfish. Looks like I have some thinking to do lol.
