Pumice does not contail any metals, per se. It may contain metal oxide(s). Also, there are applications where pumice is coated with metal oxides to increase its capacity.

For purposes of using pumice in aquariums, it is inert.

To make the water murkier (pun intended), no one knows what Matrix is composed of other than the people at Seachem. And to add some mystery, Seachem does not provide specific answers to questions about the properties of Matrix. Furthermore, they will neither confirm not deny the presence of metal oxides in Matrix.

As @Magellan alluded, the presence of GAC will remove most metals through adsorbtion. Side note; I get a little bit of a kick out of it when people/companies say that GAC absorbs anything. GAC does not absorb anything but does adsorb all kinds of different properties.
Is there anything that you DON’T get a kick out of?? ;Hilarious

but great explanation!

oh... hello.
Did someone summon me?

Well, no, not technically.

@Deezill shared a quote, in this thread, from a different thread, where you were expounding on your love of damsels. (Damsel fish and not damsels in distress. Although I suppose there can be such a thing as a damsel fish in distress.)

That list is very short and, consequently, why I am usually amused. However, I have to say that much of my amusement comes from the thoughts I have in between thoughts. If you understand what I mean then great. If you do not understand then consider yourself lucky!

Unfortunately, I understand all too well. I don’t take life too seriously either...no one gets out alive!

Your going to fit right in.

@sfin52 - Did you happen to remember to snap those pics of your filter lines? More specifically, where the rubber end attaches to the hose? No biggie if you didn't as I noticed you had some "excitement" going on last night.

I did not, I'm sorry. I'll get them tonight.

Yes I did. All cleaned out. It was nasty. No w I’m looking for replacement hoses

Might be more than you want to deal with but have you given any thought to connecting PVC into the rubber hose connector and making the currugated hose as short as possible from the pump? Or running FlexPVC?

You could use a hob overflow box and add a sump that way. You will just have to make sure to get an aqua lifer pump in case of a power outage if you don't setup a battery back up. Also there is a fish breed called Hamlet that you can get in Indigo blue. https://www.saltwaterfish.com/product-hamlet-indigo

Your welcome.

Don't forget to post pics of your new in/out lines once you get them installed. (I suppose you should post them over on your build thread.)

Oh, and apologies to @Erin O for hijacking her thread with this stuff. In my defense, it's all completely and totally @Magellan and @sfin52 fault! ;Hilarious
