I am absolutely sickened as I make this post, but I feel obligated to do something that matters to our LFS community and to help a friend.
I was on my way to Gateway Aquatics here in St. Louis to pick up some CUC and chat with the guys at the store as I normally do on the weekends. As I pulled up there were a number of Restoration Trucks in front of the store as well as a dozen or so guys frantically filling buckets with water. I knew right away this could not be good, but I had no idea how bad it was. I get out of my car and approach the store, and the owner (Chad) who has been a long time friend of mine, as well as the Owner of Seascape Studios (Joe) who I also know well looked at me and immediately said "Its not good!" I walk in the store and its pitch black, there is water everywhere on the floor, and all I could smell was burnt soot. There was an electrical fire over the tank that houses the resident eel "ernie" and the poor guy was on the floor as he clearly tried to escape the boiling water he called home for a long time. I am not big on asking for help with fundraising and things because it seems we are always worried about getting scammed somehow, but unfortunately I am calling in a favor to help a friend and LFS as he begins to recover from this disaster.
Here is the link of you care to donate, as any all all contributions will be given directly to Chad in an effort to ease the recovery costs:
