Less secure apps & your Google Account

Starting on September 30, 2024, less secure apps, third-party apps, or devices that have you sign in with only your username and password will no longer be supported for Google Workspace accounts. For exact dates, visit Google Workspace Updates. To continue to use a specific app with your Google Account, you’ll need to use a more secure type of access that doesn’t share password data. Learn how to use Sign in with Google.
If an app or site doesn’t meet our security standards, Google might block anyone who’s trying to sign in to your account from it. Less secure apps can make it easier for hackers to get in to your account, so blocking sign-ins from these apps helps keep your account safe.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you referring to the email notifications you receive from here? Those shouldn't be affected by Google's change. That's related to applications that connect to your Google account using oauth. :)

Sorry, I should have realized where this was posted and made the connection! Yeah anything that can't authenticate over oath(2?) will be blocked from access. This has been in the works for at least a year now, if not more. :)

It's getting harder, Gmail no longer allows users to setup passwords for 3rd party apps, I believe they now require OAuth2. I think Outlook is also going this way, I don't think you can use them anymore. You need to find a service or provider that still allows external connections via SMTP. MailerSend might be a good one, for free accounts they offer 3,000 emails per month and then $1,00 per 1,000 emails after.
