Just got some new Aquaforest products in from Amazon. Dosed one drop of each in my sump. I really don't know what to expect because my levels were already low. The only thing left Zeo Mix besides the salt, GFO and carbon. With the amount I have, I won't need that stuff anytime soon. I really don't understand what Zeo Mix is for and why I should add it to my system. So for now, I won't be adding it. Anyone have any experience with it? I wonder if I can just put it in my BRS reactor with carbon and GFO.

Zeomix is just a substrate for the bacteria. The "Pro Bio S" will take home in it. I don't think you need -NP Pro if you use ZeoMix, but I could be wrong. The -NP Pro is for an aquarium that does not have this. -NP Pro allows the bacteria to house in that, and then it is skimmed out.

From my understanding.

Precisely zeolites are aluminium silicate material which can absorb toxic materials in tank like NO3 and ammonia but it can also strip water essential microelements. Because of its porus nature it can host anaerobic bacteria which can further help in reducing nutrients. You can use both but you need to keep an very close eye on the elements level and try to balance it out.

Thanks for the info! I never had a problem with NO3 and PO4 so adding the Zeo Mix sounds problematic. I did some test to see where I am at.

Calcium 425
Alkalinity 8.0
Magnesium 1300
Nitrate low less than .25
Phosphate 0.16

With low low low Nitates, probably not going to dose the PRO BIo S and NP Pro. Anyone have some input? I have 4 mangroves in my sump. Should I pull them out and plant them in my backyard???

I swapped out my Jebao WP-10 for the PP-8. Huge difference in flow. I have them on the lowest setting because it creates such a sand storm and I think my water is going to go over the sides on wave mode.

My WP-10s were a lot stronger when I first installed them. I have the feeling these will die down a bit. This should be the last of the changes I'm going to do to my tank. Now just going to tweek a few things as needed and see if these darn corals with color up and grow.

Can the pp-8 turn side to side too or just up and down? Was looking at replacing my wp10 also but don't know if you can angle the pp-8 around like the wp10

The bracket is fixed in the pump. You'll have to turn the pump to get different angles.

A little update on the tank. I'm really liking the better flow of the Jebao PP-8 in the wave setting. They are currently on level 4 and making the water rock back and forth pretty good. Any higher and I think water will start going over the edge.

I still haven't got the dosing dialed in. My Alk keeps on going down. I was dosing 63 ml of each. I just bumped it up to 72 ml. 6 ml every two hours. Here are my parameters before I changed my dosing.

CAL 420
ALK 6.7
MAG 1360
NO3 .... Low but not zero.
PO4 .04

I just did a water change last night. I didn't test the water so I'm not sure what the ALK was like. I had a mixing tub that I mixed up some water two weeks ago. It has some nasty film on the walls. For now on, Im just going to make water the night before.

As for the Aquaforest products. AF ABEV are working wonders on the soft coral/LPS. I don't have that many but they look better than before. I started alternating the nightly dosing of AF ABEV. One night 2 drops of AF A&V and the following night 2 drops AF B&E. The Battlecorals that I got on 10/4 are starting to grow onto their plugs.

As for the SPS corals I've had for a while, the green stag isn't green anymore. Tips are growing fast. The rest has turned more of a blue color. The Red Planet that has been looking crap changed colors. THe body is yellow. No clue what I should be doing right now. Not sure if there is too much light, not enough. Im just going to leave the lights right as they are for now.

I finally got my doser dialed in! My ALk has been sitting at 7.6 for the past few day. As for the tank, I'm getting a small algae bloom so I'm going to cut the AF ABEV dosing in half. Not much I can do because I'm only dosing 2 drops every other day. Let's see what that does.

This journal is turning into a tank make over. So I got a new idea and ran with it. I sold my lights and purchased new ones. Tomorrow I will do an update and write about the headache of trying to figure out new app. Lights are pretty new and I couldn't find too much info from users.

I've been looking at this light for a while because of the spacing and the amount of LED heads. There isn't much info from users but I went ahead and swapped out my lights. I only can compare the Maxspect to the AI Hydra 26 because that's all I've owned and used. First impression, they are not as bright as 2 Hydras. Colors are different. I was running a lot bluer tank with the Hydras. So what does one do? Crank those lights up! Well, wrong answer after using a LUX meter. I know, I know, the par gods are going to hate on me for saying that. So, with the resources I have, I chose to start off a bit less intensity that I was running the Hydras. I've noticed some bleaching from my last setting so I was going for about 25k dead center on the LUX meter.

I have a 2 hours ramp up at 9 am and to a high of the pick above. Back down at 7 pm to the same thing as 9 pm. 2 hour ramp down.

Here is with the lights maxed out with the lux meter. All the sides of the fixture are about 36k. That's about 7 1/2 inches above the water line.

From my measurements, I think the lights have a wider and even spread than the hydra. There isn't as bad as a hot zone for a LED fixture. On the other hand, I'm kind of missing my hydras. That light combo would go great with a 3 to 4 foot tank, and not my 2 foot by 2 foot. Is there anyone else using this light? I would love your feed back.
