Its only been a few days with the light fixture so I have nothing to report. As for the tank, the back corners are brighter. The main issue I had was I wanted to put SPS near the edges. All the corals near the center were looking good and did not notice any problems with shadowing.

I also decided to ditch my LEDs and went with T5s too. I was tired and messing with color channels. Everything responded really good and growth has been much better ever since I switched. You'll love the T5s.

Update:

Still battling Cyano with Peroxide and it seems to be slowing it down in some areas and stopped in other. Algae is starting to go away. As for dosing AF ABEV, I have stopped because the cyano seems to feed off of it. For now I'm just feeding the fish. I think I got it from a frag rock from the lfs. I was certain it was from the AF products but I might be wrong. As for now, tank is doing well. This is today's water test.

ALK 8.2
CAL 420
MAG 1500
Nitrate 0.5
Phosphate 0.04

Im have AF Zeolites, carbon, and GFO in my BRS reactor. Trying to kill all the algae. Took some pics today. Added some frags from reef pets. Not sure if the guy uses heavy blues or the corals didn't ship well. It is winter so Im sure they got cold. They look kind of bland when I got them.

Somewhere in the 3.5 years since my last post, I let me reef for. It was more of an algae tank than anything else. I guess I lost the battle to cyano and lost the passion. All my corals died. My t-5 fixture blew up and I put a Maxspec Eathereal fixture in the place. My Yellow Tang, Maroon Clown, and Coral Banded Shrimp we’re doing well, even after I only fed them 1-2 times a week. Surprised the shrimp is still alive because the life expectancy is 2-3 years.

Short story,I went on vacation and decided to do an overhaul on the tank. My Jebao power heads were dead, filter sock got clogged 2 years ago,the carbon reactor probably clogger 3 years ago, nitrate and phosphates were high.

I cleaned the glass and somehow my cyano went away during the 3.5 years. There wasn’t much algaeon the rocks. I did a few 20 percent water changes. I got the reefing itch back.

I replaced the lights with two AI hydra 32 HD. Got 2 Jebao SOW power heads, new test kits because they were 2-3 years expired. Started doing NOPOX to bring the nitrates and phosphates down. Over shot it and they went to zero causing dinos. A little microbater7 cleared it up and cleaned the rocks.

I got some new Red Sea supplements because that’s what noobs use. RS seems to be the easy to understand program. Did some research to refresh what I needed to sustain a reef. I used RS Foundation ABC liquids to bring my parameters to 8.5 ALK, 415 CAL, and 1400 magnesium. I have RS Colors ABCD on hand and will use them when needed.
