Enough people have been dosing ammonia for long enough that I think the result is clear: dosing ammonia can give better results without any harm than dosing nitrate.
It's cheap, although you may need a dosing pump unless you do multiple manual doses/day.
Time to stop worrying about keeping ammonia low. Time to start dosing it if nitrate is lower than a few ppm, even up to 10 ppm.
