Stain R&D continues. Currently narrowing in on:

General Finishes Gel Georgian Cherry
Minwax PolyShades Bombay Mahoganny

The latter isn’t a tea stain but a combo polyurethane so its layering is a lot more like paint. Doesn’t stain as much as adds a translucent coat. I may combine the two (stain then poly)
I prefer stain myself. Up close it looks better, the look is more natural in appearance IMO, for what that's worth. At most I would only do a slight tint in the poly.

Currently narrowing down on this (left side) It’s still wet but it’s a gel stain (Georgian Cherry) + Bombay PolyShades over it. It darkens to the level I want, shows grain as well.

Looking good :) I'll be planning my next build after your one completes...
mr aqua is hard for anyone who is not into DIY i think. You need overflow and rest everything ... AIO are lot easier..
but I agree the form factor is killer.

Be interesting to make this a peninsula AIO - with some acrylic work it would turn out pretty interesting.

PLunge router?

Yup. Using my Bosch router with the plunge base, 1/4” spiral tip and the jig template designed for the hinge to make it easy (though spendy for what amounts to a piece of wood, two pins, two screws, and two nails)

Nice! Which hinges are you using? I find the HD and Lowes hinges to be lacking in quality in the southeast.

With tank
This looks great! How did you finish the edges? Did you use some solid wood or a laminate? It looks better than a Red Sea or the like, even better fitment and quality! And the look is perfect, no gaps or unbalanced proportions.

Where the edge showed, I used solid birch. The door frames are 1x3 birch, and the top is two edge glued 1x6 birch pieces. Not cheap when buying small quantities - probably about $100 of solid wood in there.
