No wc while dealing with dinos? Sorry for the ignorance :)

I did not do a water change, i just made sure i did the right dose the next day. when doing a water change you are adding in fresh nutrients for them to feed on. and can cause an even bigger bloom

I dosed my tank today and about an hour later,I dosed again for a double dose today...I'm not sure what it is doing but my tangs are eating it now,it almost immediately started to float away from the rock and the tank is looking much better now,I'll keep dosing and see what happens...thanks for posting this thread Troy :D

I calculated it out from the 1ml per 10g for my tank = 1.5 ounces, yesterday I dosed that twice...today I'm gonna dose 2 ounces and do that for the next few days and see what happens....

my hammer coral and 'shrooms are already opening up much more than before,my zoas are still not fully opening yet but the tank looks much better this morning...

I have some pics of before dosing,I'll take a few after this is all cleared up for comparison, but it seems to be working for me :D

just for curiosity sake, before I dosed the tank,I added some chaeto to a bowl with about a quart of tank water and added 3 ml of H2O2(I was shooting for a big time OD :D) and left it for about an hour,it didn't seem to bother the chaeto....I didn't want to kill my chaeto

Hey Guys,

I have been reading and following for quite some time. From what i gather - H2o2 mostly only effects Dinos...correct? I was truly hoping that different types of algae were going to be effected but it seems from what i have read that hair algae remains. I guess i should be happy i don't have Dinos but was hoping this would be a new tool to use. I am guessing it wouldn't be worth it for me to try for just algae. Anyone have any algae input?

Works great for ha on plugs And disc used as a dip... Prolly won't phase it in the display thou from dosing....

Yeah thats what i had gathered. Do you think if i grab a few pieces of rocks and dip them indiviually that it would work? What is the concentration for dipping?

You could but I would only do one every few days since it would prolly kill the bacteria also causing spikes in ammonia and n03... For dipping a rock I would say place the Rock in a bucket with the least amount of water to cover it and add the
Peroxide untill the algae starts bubbling then let it set for a hour or so and rinse well in tank water in a separate bucket before returning to the display... Or dip all of them and cycle them in a separate tAnk for a week or so before adding back to the display...hth

Thanks Troy - I think i will go the route of one at a time slowly. My algae isnt too bad so one rock here one rock should be good...i will update with any results!

day 2 and not much difference from yesterday,I double dosed again today and it doesn't seem to be hurting anything....

I'm gonna leave my MHs off for a few days and see if it helps too...it seems to be worse while my bright lights are on but it's nothing like it was a week ago

the coral is acting great,my zoas aren't fully opening yet but they're opening better than they were a few days ago,at least I can see some color in 'em now :D

Excellent article, but wow it took some time to read from the beginning. Great successes with the hair algae on the plugs have also been reported over in the zoa forum. It was one of the dips covered in the dipping thread here;

https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/zoa-discussion-club-zoa/40552-dipping-zoanthairans.html

And also had a thread of its own, but the thread is now too old and I can't link it, I'll see if I can dig it up this week.

well,I'm just starting day 5,but I'm not seeing any improvement since the first dose....Troy,was you using carbon while dosing ? could my carbon be interfering with the H2O2's effects ?

I was really hoping to see better results by now,I've kept my MH lights off for the past 2 days and using a powerhead to blow it off the rocks and changing my filter sock every day but it's still coming back....any other suggestions ?

do you have a pic of the tank???? maybe your fighting diatoms or cyano there is brown cyano...... might be the reason here....just throwing it out lol...
Day 5 here too and still no improvement. Should I double dose...1 mL per 10 gallons twice a day? Currently dosing 1 mL per 10 gallons once a day.

I tried getting a good picture of it but couldn't get a good pic with my phone. I keep going back and forth to whether it might be diatoms or dinos. Can you point me in the direction to help cure for diatoms? Thanks.
