One of my problems is that I use tapatalk on my phone so I reply to the threads that pop up on it, and I don't go to the full site very ofren. I'll do better lol

Let me say I'm PROUD of everyone. Y'all have really stepped up your game on here and it is starting to remind me of the ETRC of old.

...even the occasional tense banter LOL

Dave

There has been several occasions in the past few months that Chris and I have mentioned, that we are really enjoying the camaraderie between all the active ETRC members.
Let me echo your sentiment, I'm super proud of all the members, especially for all the positive, complimentary, and sarcastic remarks.....it really looks like we have a great group of like minded hobbyists here to enjoy the club for what is was created for....

I agree with all the above. A month of two ago I would get on here and check and there maybe like a post or two over the whole day. Now it seems like there are multiple threads being created throughout the day to give us some topics to discuss. @cee seemed like your thread was the little kick the club needed and wanted.

Coach63,...did you decide on the Cadlights tank?
Sorry for the late reply- I decided to go with a 350 reefer. Not the volume as the Cadlights but I think (from what people have said) a little bit better quality. Should be on the delivery truck soon.

Hey ETRC gang, I wish I would have found this thread much earlier! It touched on some things that I think we have all felt in our lives, especially since forums popped up and became more popular. People lurk, find what they need, move on without engaging in conversation, "other" forums had the crews that gave the "Dude, L2search" speeches and drove casual members away. But, these are all based on the forum as a whole, not necessarily with a specific group, or club, which I assume Cee's OP was leaning towards. (I know things have since picked up, based on the responses)

I'll try to not be too long-winded, I'm sure you guys are tired of reading my books lol, and I will try to not beat a dead horse because obviously I was not here for the division of the East Tennessee clubs. I'd just like to add my unbiased opinion, so please don't flame me or think I'm trying to stir the pot. After moving here in July last year, I was in desperate need of RO water, I looked on R2R and found the ETRC forum, posted and within minutes I had amazing people offering me water. @Ole Man was the closest to me and was kind enough to give me several gallons of water, 30 iirc. This was my first experience with the greatness of people in Tennessee.

It did not take long after moving here to realize that a divided community existed. Now, I had been part of a great reefer community in Chicago, as well as other hobby clubs over the years and witnessed minor drama, so it made me apprehensive to join either TN club.

Time rolled on, I have met several locals through various transactions and posts, members of both clubs. I liked them all!! I did not necessarily want to join two clubs, pay two memberships, attend two meetings a month and I was mostly scared of having to side with one or the other. So from an outsider's perspective, it would be incredible if both sides could bury the past and celebrate a unified community over beers, so new hobbyists and transplants like myself can feel good about being in a local club.

I merely wanted to stress how an outsider feels coming into a situation where "situations" come at you almost immediately, it is an uncomfortable feeling, where it really shouldn't feel uncomfortable at all. I really hope this does not get taken the wrong way or pour salt on any wounds, it's just a perspective that may not be thought of very often. Also, this perspective is not directed at either side, but more so, both sides. And FWIW, I did not hear any negative aspects of either club, only that there was a split in the community.

I have tried to be as active as possible, probably too active lol. I'm by no means an expert reefer, but I know just enough about most reefing topics to feel my input might be helpful, so I do try. I learn something new every day on these forums and I'm looking forward to some long friendships in Tennessee. Thanks for reading another long post by me.... I'll try to learn how to type less...eventually lol.

Have a great afternoon everyone. I have proofread this a few times and again, I hope I do not offend anyone, it's certainly not my intention. It feels like the subject is a sore one and one that probably shouldn't be brought up publicly, but I felt I needed to share my thoughts.

Doug,
You hit on something that is near and dear to my heart, combining forces would be a great thing for the Knoxville community. I wasn't into the hobby much when all this really went down so I'm not sure of the origin of all of it but it is time to bury the hatchet and move on.
