"Now, this is the story all about how - my life got flipped-turned upside down"
This could easily be the theme to my encounter with reef tanks. What a world, it sucked me right in.
My name is Niels and i'm from Denmark. I'm 29 and live with my gf and our little fishes.
This is my 3rd reef tank, and probably the one i'm gonna keep the longest (until the next bright idea comes to mind, don't tell the gf).
It's 33,5 x 33,5 x 23,6 (85x85x60 metric) so almost a cube. My former tank was the same, just 20cm lower. I started the tank with 2 live pillars and 2 dead ones yesterday (march 22-16) so it will be a while before i can stock the tank with some of the leftovers from the previous tank. My temporary holdup didn't work out right, so most of the stuff died unfortunately.
Equipment:
Lighting - 2x ATI Sunpower 6x24w T5 (Giesemann/ATI Mix tubes)
Water movement - 2x Vortech MP40wQD w/reeflink
Return - Eheim Compact 3000+
Skimmer - ATI Powercone 200 DC
Dosing: Jebao DP4 and Grotech HCR150 calcium reactor
Heating - 2x 150w Eheim Jäger
Po4 removal - DIY reactor for Rowaphos
The cabinet is aluminum square tubing (Porsa for those who know it) covered with foamalux. The bottom is painted with high gloss heavy duty paint, and the edges are siliconed for water proofing. It is sound proofed with foam, and there will be acrylic covers on the sump and a 120mm fan to eliminate moisture in the cabinet. Oh, and LED lighting in the cabinet.
Pictures!
The only inhabitants so far, is a cardinal shrimp that hid in the live rock. Today i got a decent amount of sand in the tank, will post some pictures when it clears up
Happy easter!
