Update! Lights are mounted!! I used 10 series t-slot for the light rails. I'll make another thread to show the materials and explain the whole system, but here are some of the pictures from when we were testing the mounting in the garage (we figured that was safer than testing the mounting system over the tank ).

And here it is mounted over the tank (ignore the cables...cable management is something that's still on the "to do" list).

I made a tutorial thread for anyone who might need to try to figure out a way to mount Orpheks in a canopy moving forward. HERE IT IS.
#following. I’m at the lighting mounting portion of my build. Well, design and purchase. This is fantastic.

Ok...updatessssss...

We've had a few setbacks on the plan for a few parts of the equipment and aquascape, but things are forging ahead.

The sump will be a bit different than originally planned, but still gonna be awesome! I'm hoping to get it in the next week or 2 (if all goes as hoped).

Since the only filtration in the tank is live rock at the moment, the tank is essentially operating as a refugium. I still need to build the aquascape. I've been in the middle of PhD classes and remodeling, so things have not moved as quickly as I had thought, but over the next couple of weeks, I think we should be in business.

I still need to set up the actual water change system. I think I may end up using a 29g tank for the reservoir. I had debated going bigger, but I think that will probably suffice, and I actually have one on hand so it's convenient.

I did add 3 green mithrax crabs to the tank, and they've been chowing down. I bought them all at the same time, but they are very different in size. The first one was probably the biggest I'd ever seen! The 2nd was about 1/2 the size of the first one, and the last one was standard size and looked like a dwarf next to the big guy. I named them from largest to smallest: Hulk, Shrek, and Edward Norton.

The progress you’ve got now is impressive!

Soon it’ll be a thriving reef at this rate :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:
What a journey! Keeps me encouraged to continue working on my "plans" for a peninsula reef. I'm curious how did you get all the plumbing installed on the backwall of the tank? How much space did you leave yourself between tank and wall?

Man, for a two-year-old thread, I showed up just at the right time. Beautiful tank, I can't wait to see it come along. I understand the schooling getting in the way. Takes everything in me to sit down and do school work instead of playing with my aquarium.

Subbed! I'm considering my own 150 peninsula, I can't wait to see how this build turns out!
