Not here or there - but years ago I sent very expensive NHL playoff tickets overnight and insured, early AM to somebody. FedEx lost the tickets and they could not be replaced. I filed a claim. FedEx found the tickets (a week after the claim and game) stuck (literally, by a partially peeled off label) behind a shelf on a truck . They denied my claim for the insurance because the tickets were found undamaged and denied my shipping refund because the package had a labeling "error" preventing proper delivery. Good luck ever getting them to honer a claim.

It is industry standard to credit for doa items and buyer eats the shipping. Some companies may choose to go above and beyond industry standard, that’s their choice and it might be situational

But the norm is the shipper isn’t responsible for refunding shipping. You paid for an item to be shipped, they paid ups or whoever, late or not, it was delivered. A service was performed. If you want a refund on shipping go file a claim with ups and see how it works out
This is not true. UPS has a 1 day delivery guarantee you as the buyer are paying for through the vendor; why would the vendor get to keep the refunded shipping from UPS and you have to pay for shipping all over again?

I suggest you read the fine print (force majeure) to understand how carriers almost never pay for missed promises.

Moreover, I think you will find that many shippers contractually waive their claim rights for on-time delivery for very significantly reduced overnight rates.

If YOU ship a typical livestock package (fish, coral whatever) with UPS or FedEx overnight you are looking at $300 or more for the same package that your livestock vendor is paying $50 or $75 (plus the cost of packaging) to ship.

I've also had a late 1 day UPS shipment recently (different vendor) - UPS needs to get their act together. Shipping is already super expensive, $40-$60! The vendor gave me a full refund of shipping, but coral are still nursing back to health.

Thankfully had 2 successfully UPS delivers this week, one from CA another from MI.

FedEx is worse, esp. if it's going through Portland, OR hub.
Ive actually never had an issue with Fedex for anything! Just UPS and Im so over them messing up all the time. Havnt gotten a smooth delivery for anything from them in the last couple months! Its ridiculous! I dont think my shipments ever go through that hub though based on my location.

I think Amazon is more reliable in time then fedex and ups, which i find ironic.

Jeff Bezo's must of been really upset to decide to invest that much in delivery fleet.

I understand the monetary component of this thread, but it started off with 'what to do with them'. Saving what you can is the top priority. Chime in on how to minimize the losses. Would appreciate all your feedback.
