I love the black. When you keep it all clean and nice it gives it sort of a "captive feel". It frames all the things inside, and for me I feel like it makes it look more like a work of art rather than just a piece of the reef dropped in. I guess its hard to explain what Im trying to say, but I like the black.

What are your plans for the sailfin when he gets a little larger?

My mom has a 125 tank that he could be re-homed in. I'd never keep a fish that was too big for the small space, but given the diagonal space in this tank, even though it's only 2'x2' he seems very happy with the space for his size for right now. If I see even a hint of lateral line or scale loss, he'll be moving to a larger environment...so far he's fat and healthy.

I will join in Sweeeeetttt. Just wondering what size chiller do you think you will need for that tank. I am looking for a tank about the same size and someone told me I would need a 1/10 chiller for that size tank.

I got a 1/3 hp chiller by trading about 25 different frags of corals I had about a year ago. It is way too big for this amount of water, but since I didn't have to pay for it, I'm more than happy to use it. When I was using it on my 120 system (total system volume of 200+) it had no problem keeping up...and wasn't even close to running non-stop. When I used it on my 72 system, it would kick on for about 2 minutes for every hour to keep the temps down in the middle of the summer when it got really hot. Sorry I can't be of more help to you. I'd at least look for a 1/6th HP chiller though, just because I'd rather have it oversized than undersized.

Love the tank. I actually think I have the same exact tank. I am thinking of doing the same thing with the 2 tanks below. Is the first one gravity fed into the second?

The stand is 36" wide, 36" high, and 30" front to back. It adds to the geometric look of the tank, but more importantly, enabled me to house 2 20 gallon sumps, the large ballast box, and some more equipment, like an eventual kalk reactor or calcium reactor.

Ok, a whole lot of pics are coming. First of the sump as promised...just a little late

Overall picture
IMG_3236.jpg

The refugium (back tank) is powered by a 2x65w PC light and has 20-40 lbs of live rock, cheato, and calurpa. It is also home to a Lamark's Angel, cinnamon clown, and an RBTA.

There are two PVC drains going from the refugium to the sump. As you can see from the second picture, I use one of the returns to hang my filter sock to hang carbon from.

Also under the tank, there is the skimmer (not sure what kind), My DJ Powerstrip, My pH monitor, the ballasts and a bunch of other supplies.

I am loving the Tubbs, those thing look awesome!!! The purple tipped hammer, green slimer and red acan are looking great as well. Good show
I figured out what was going on with my salinity, it wasn't the water it was the refracto. I move it from by the window where it was cold to the other side of the room where it is warm and that screwed up the calibration so my water is still spot on.

You keep up this pace and your going to need a bigger tank....

Looking Good!

Thanks. As I've told other people...what I need is a bigger house to put the bigger tank in. My next tank (and it won't be for some time probably) will be a Deep Dimension....most likely the 4' one, but possibly the 6' one if I can justify it :)

I'm off my paly/zoa kick...and these are actually the only colony that I'm actively keeping in this tank, but I wouldn't dream of not having them. These things were so worth trading or buying (can't remember which) from Jared. Not only have they gone from a 4 polyp frag in April to 100+, but since I've probably made and subsequently sold/traded 5 frags of these things, they've paid for themselves with interest already. (I obviously don't have all 100 in my tank now...this is probably a 20-25 polyp mini-colony. My mom has a colony about twice this size in her tank that I traded to her, and all the other frags I've made add up to well over 100.)

Steel stand, square bar and angle
Custom Sump 44x18x16
