Years ago I added a couple clams to my tank with already established clams in it. A few days later they did what I thought was spawning but what turned out to be them dying. All my old large clams just disintegrated over the next couple days.
A couple weeks ago I bought a few clams and right now they are in quarantine, but I'm just wondering how or if you can treat for a bacteria or parisite problem? I have clams again in my main system and don't want to go through this again.

I always QT my clams for several weeks to make sure they are completely healthy before exposed my healthy clams to them. I don’t do any treatment unless I see problem, mainly PMD and parasitic snails.
I don’t do prophylactic FWD but a lot of the clam keepers do FWD in-addition to or instead of QT. Just make sure that you check for parasites. FWD will not treat parasitic snails.

Yah I plan on leaving them in QT for at least 6 weeks. They are all looking good and no signs of pests so far. Just worried about what I can't see!
