This is definitely helpful. I did buy some kalk and plan on adding it. Coralline is already well established on the rocks and glass, so that may be part of what's dropping the levels. Thanks for the info!
I'm no expert, but to build on what others have already said, if you have coralline algae that's well established and growing, and you're not yet keeping corals, you do not need to change anything you're doing. Your tank is fine :)

That said, if you're trying to get to to a point where you feel comfortable maintaining corals, then you're definitely asking the right questions.

I *might* in the future. This has been helpful as to how to do that because tank maintenance definitely will need to be at least 2-3 weeks in between. Looking forward to testing out the kalk in the ato. Never tried that before.
