Buying small frags -- do you put directly on rockscape or do you put on rack first?

Curious what is the usual... if you are getting a tiny coral/sps frag, its like a little step 1" high... Do you take the frag off the plug and put it directly on the rock, or do you place the frag on a frag rack holder and let it grow out a bit before putting it in permanent location? What does everyone like to do?

Is there a benefit to putting it in the frag rack, like letting it time to adjust and heal from the shipping etc.

I chuck them on the frag rack, but have a habit of leaving them there too long.

Frag rack lets the corals have time to adjust to your lighting - which I have learned is especially important for SPS - before they go under what will usually be the higher PAR ranges wherever they will live. I do it with all of my frags regardless of what kind so I can watch them for things like aiptasia, etc. I use it as a sort of semi-quarantine.

Then they graduate onto the rock and it feels really rewarding for me personally :)

Sometimes it's nice to let small frags grow out a bit to get a better idea of where you might want to place them.

I placed mine on the sandbed until I figured out where I wanted them. No reason other than I'm indecisive. :p
