Do you trim the disks on your frag plugs to disguise them?

We're all guilty. How many frag plugs have you mounted in your tank and ended up with what looks like rocks covered in plates? I've learned that for any frag already mounted on a plug with the disk exposed that it's more aesthetically appealing to nip the circumference to make it less obvious as the goral encrusts the plug.

I usually try to remove them, if I can’t then I nip them down. There are a couple that overgrew the plug and I had to put them in that way.

Nope I let them grow/encrust over them

In a few months you can’t even tell. And it gives the coral a nice flat section to grow over

Yep, I find it’s not worth the small risk of by mistake damaging the coral. I’ll take off the bottom part that sticks out though!

I snip off the stem, but leave it to grow over the disk. Agree, you can't tell in a few months. Also, for Zoa's, it's a really easy way to frag. Just let them spread off the plug, then separate the plug with the "parents" on it and put it someplace else.
