You have to remove one screw and the brackets on the reef bar goes where that screw was. It’s pretty easy to install but I wish the aluminum was thicker on the ati fixture as I worry it might just pull the screw out. I haven’t had any issues but it’s a concern.
The violet leds are still working great but yes they will burn the splash shield and may reduce how much violet light shines through. I completely removed the splash shield to avoid this issue.
I think the Gilligan is one of the oldies Adam has. There are a handful of coral on his site that are very light in color that didn't seem to stay that way with time. All the pictures he takes now that are grown on tiles look very accurate. The old pics he has were the coral is shown with no tile I expect those to darker in color when I get them. The Gilligan looks awesome. But I would have named it , the Barney. [as in the dinosaur]
I made a thread a few months ago asking if anyone knew what this one was. I never got a definite answer on trade name or species. It's grown out a bit more so maybe someone can better answer it now. It's hard to capture it in a pic but on the very tip there is a bright blue polyp.
Closest thing I could find is this:I made a thread a few months ago asking if anyone knew what this one was. I never got a definite answer on trade name or species. Thanks! Mine has zero blue but I've always kept it in the corner of the frag tank. Maybe with more light it will get some blue.Am tempted to say Acropora Austera but can be Tortusa too .. seems like same species as WWC yellow tips or poletti yellow tips . I might be wrong !!

Thanks for digging that up! Yeah if it wasn't for the white, I'd say that was it.Closest thing I could find is this:
My Favorite Corals: Yellow Tip Acropora echinata Acropora, Featured, SPS Corals Reef Builders | The Reef and Marine Aquarium Blog
https://reefbuilders.com/2017/11/22/my-favorite-corals-yellow-tip-acropora-echinata/
Have no idea why Jake Adams thinks that's an echinata, but regardless the coral looks similar although more white and less green. Not sure what species though.
To me it looks like a hybrid of austera and like sarmentosa or tort. I have both the wwc yellow tip and poletti yellow tip and they have slightly different structure. I'm not convinced they aren't the exact same coral btw, haven't tried fusing them yet though.Am tempted to say Acropora Austera but can be Tortusa too .. seems like same species as WWC yellow tips or poletti yellow tips . After seeing your pic it reminds me of this other one I have that I have no idea what it is either. Wwc first
Poletti second
Did you get it as a wild or mari? I wish I was better at identifying species. After seeing your pic it reminds me of this other one I have that I have no idea what it is either. Now I think it's the WWC yellow tip.
I got it as a frag from TCK. I went back through the list of names I got from him and I believe I found out what it is. It's the Paletta Tricolor.Did you get it as a wild or mari? I wish I was better at identifying species.
I actually think that's a different coral, although I can certainly see the resemblance. I've never seen a wwc yellow tip that looks that dark green and hairy, but who knows, maybe a morph like all the shortcake variants (although some of those are different species). WWCs also has blue polyps. Remarkably similar though otherwise. Just my two cents, I'm certainly no expert. Call it bubbas lemon tipped.
Not sure what it is, but it reminds me of one sold by someone local to me that's called "Jimmy the Tulip". There's a shot of his in this thread https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/sps-frag-packs.174739/I made a thread a few months ago asking if anyone knew what this one was. That's a wonderful compliment!@bubbaque - I just wanted to let you know that a bunch of your pics have made it onto my screen saver! Keep up the great work, always love your pics!
Color looks very similar! Does the Jimmy have long branches? Not sure what it is, but it reminds me of one sold by someone local to me that's called "Jimmy the Tulip". There's a shot of his in this thread https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/sps-frag-packs.174739/
Yours is lacking that lavender to the tip, at least in those comparison photos. I realize that's not a name on your posted list, but as we know, they can have various trade names, maybe the Jimmy name is just something made up locally, I don't know the origin of his piece.
Sorry for so many post today but while I am trying to get some help with my last few unknown pieces. These other two are the last two I have no idea what their name is either. They came from that same pack listed above. Anyone got a clue?
That's a wonderful compliment!
