To much flow??
I am not sure but I wish I had even more flow.

Thats a good looking coral bubba. Do you have to take any action with the zoas? I have a garf bonsai being approached by some and am curious.
I haven’t had to yet and I’m not sure how the sps will react once the Zoas start touching them. If the Zoas cause an issue I might get a fish that eats soft coral.

Did you do it as a precaution or you seen something happening?

Same system or separate?
All tanks are on the same system but every time I add a tank, the new tank goes through the ugly stage. It will go through Dino and hair algae growing on the walls. The last tank even got some weird brown algae I never even seen before. It’s very weird as the rest of the tanks always seem to remain unbothered while the new tank sorts itself out. I’m not sure what causes it but I always assumed the new tank needs to build up the bacteria on its surfaces. It usually last just long enough to become a bother than it disappears.

Isn’t that insane how that happens. Mine have all done the same thing, then somehow they start doing better than the display lol. Strange hobby

Its very weird for sure. I was very surprised when I added that first frag tank as I thought it was going to be smooth sailing but then turned ugly pretty quick. Second tank I was like okay this must be what just happens. This new tank I knew full well it was going to happen but it still drives me insane to see it all nasty.

I always try and leave it frag rack-less for a month with no lights. Have had better luck doing this. It’s almost like the a new tank has something that feeds the algae so it blooms rapidly. Seems the same with new eggcrate sometimes.

Always sucks to lose frags. Especially nubs. If I ever get the chance to save even 1 polyp before it dies I do. I’ve grown full colonies 12” or more with just 1 polyp

That's a looker Bubba! Add that on to my list! [emoji16]
As it has grown out it has become simply stunning. Even in daylight the color looks the same it's just not as bright.

I cut a frag for one person before and I died a little inside that day, lol.

And now to show what nightmares are made of!

New frag tank uglies.
This was at the peak of the ugliness. Dino and hair algae.

This is it today. I didn’t scrub it or blow it off before the pic. It’s much better and I’m sure the turbo snails I added will clean it up in a few days.
