  • Yes

  • No

  • I'm treating my tank with it now.

It's hard to tell in the photos but I've noticed several things over the last couple of days in both tanks. The bryopsis is not growing upright anymore. It has begun to lay flat and is losing the fern like structure. It has also started looking more stringy. It basically resembles a fern plant that hasn't received enough water and is declining by the day. That's probably the best description I can give for what I'm seeing. I've also noticed in my nano tank in one of the photos that you can see that it is loosing color as well. In person the change in both tanks is much more noticeable.
I've measured phosphates with 2 different kits from the start and haven't seen much of a rise. Same thing with nitrates. Other than feeding fish, checking and adjusting main water parameters and topping things off nothing has been changed. My violet leds were the only lights running at the time I took these photos today, so colors in the pics may look a little different the 2 previous days.
Chaeto is still holding up for now as well. So we'll wait another 24 hours. My confidence is beginning to grow.

I'm definitely seeing a change in your Bryopsis. Some seem to turn white in a couple of days, while others take four to five days to turn. Either way, everyone's Bryopsis has all looked the same two weeks later....Gone! :)

Awesome update and documentation @NCreefguy. I've definitely liked checking in on the daily updates of that acro frag it's looking real nice!

Has anyone seen this work on other algaes? I have a nasty bubble algae outbreak in one of my tanks that I would love to see die

One algae the Vibrant product works well on is bubble algae. I had it throughout my nano with the Bryopsis. The Vibrant product wiped out the bubble algae.

I'm glad the change is noticeable from the photos. Trying my best to keep things as accurate as possible.

I have bubble algae in my tank as well. We'll see if the fluconazole has any effect on it during the treatment. If not I plan on starting a dosing regimen with ME polyp extender after the bryopsis has been eradicated. I haven't done any form of carbon dosing in my tank now for about a year and a half.

You reefers are some born again hard bryopsis killers!

Kill 'em all, let the CUC sort 'em out. :)

My LFS has been battling Bryopsis for the past 6 months and it always makes me nervous when buying corals there.
It's one of the reasons I've incorporated H2O2 into my coral dip routine.
But now I'm going to point him to this thread.

Fine work reefers, very fine indeed.

I received my fluconazole today. So if I am reading the dosing instructions correctly, it's 20mg per 10 gallons, so for my 250 reefer with a volume of approximately 60 gallons give or take after displacement, I'd need to dose 1200mg of fluconazole (or 6 capsules).

Today is a great day, my Bryopsis treatment arrived a day early. So I did some tank maintenance on my 9 gallon nano tank and at 2:38pm MT, I added the fungus meds. Since I had been adding the Vibrant product to this tank 2X/week, I decided to add it at the same time. The 1-2 punch. Since I had been using the Vibrant product, some of the Bryopsis already has some white to it. The Vibrant had been making easier to remove the Bryopsis, but not eradicating it.

Correct you need 1200mg for your 60gal but it's 20mg per gallon not per 10 gallons.

You're answer is right, but your dosing info is wrong.....20 mg per 10 gallons....maybe left out a decimal.

The original dosing information I saw from some of the first people doing this was 150 mg per 30 liters. This calculates out to 19 mg per gallon. What has been done with recent dosing, including this post, is to simply round it off to 20 mg per 1 gallon.

Now for your 60 gallons this calculates to:

20 mg/gallon X 60 gallons = 1200 mg dose

I missed a decimal. :(

But, the dose is in! All there is to now is wait and see.

Does fluconazole kill any other types of algae? I have been dealing with red hair algae for over 3 years...I have tried all types of inverts to eat it. They dont eat this algae. foxface, and tangs do not eat it either.
Note: Im not talking about cyano. Its red hair algae. They look just like GHA. The only thing that kills it is peroxide. I take the rocks out and squirt peroxide on them. They turn white and die off. They keep coming back. I brake some corals everytime I do this.... I wonder if fluconazole will kill this.

Does anyone who has used this have large sponges. I have used an antibiotic in the system (in fish food) to treat and ended up completely whiting out my sponge. It eventually came back, but now it is so large it would be devastating to lose.

I fight briopsis too. Thanks for any info.

I only have a few small sponges left after treating with Vibrant. I will look and see tomorrow if any of what remains are still around. Hopefully someone who has a big sponge will chime in.
