here is my latest. It was great being able to share the process here on r2r and the great feedback offered. First shot is a month or 2 ago. Smaller shots more recent after placing corals

Seems like there are two broad goals for an aquascape: make it a work of art (think Amano for SW) or make it look like a slice of the reef. I always go for the latter ..... and even occasionally succeed. Not a particularly big fan of the former.

a lot of different looks below the surface though too.

Good idea for new forum. Many people have questions related to aquascaping and we all love pics. I would not consider myself a great or even good aquascaper but I have had a lot of practice at it. Setting up several personal tanks and doing tank installs and maintenance gave me that practice. Here are my last 2 tanks, well what few pics I have left of them last pic is right before that tank was taken down

. Im setting up a new tank now and aquascaping should be happening in the next few months. Hunting for good LR now.

Awesome thread! I can't wait to see what everyone is doing. I have to rescape my 180gal in about a month, and I need ideas! I was never really satisfied with my old aquascape.

Well, here goes... first possible tip. I'm not sure it's going to work yet. I need some time to play with the idea, and if it pans out, I'll post some pics but....

I found some plastic pillars for sale (second hand) and picked them up. They're meant for elevating the second layer of a cake. LOL I wanted to try to do a floating rock or ledge. I watched a few videos of how others have put the floating scapes together, and when I saw the clear plastic pillars, I thought they might work as they're almost invisible. They won't stay invisible for long, so I'll have to figure out how I want to camouflage them. Hum... maybe coming attractions. In the meantime, if you haven't seen the floating scapes, the pic below was found on pinterest.

I couldn't find a link for the exact one's I bought secondhand, but here are a few links with similar products:
https://www.amazon.com/Clear-Wedding-Cascade-Cupcake-Stand/dp/B00DH6P0YU

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=shop&q=clear+wedding+cake+tiers+for+sale&tbs=vw:g,mr:1,cat:4372,pdtr0:892475|892477&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiJi_HLg-faAhWM7YMKHa_lCc8Q1yoIuQYoAQ&biw=1094&bih=510#spd=1375251946470577675''

You can also find some that are made of glass...a little more durable if you're putting heavy rocks on top. I was actually thinking of smearing 100% silicone on them and rolling/encrusting them in sand or crushed shells for a more natural look if one has to be visible, but I'm still thinking about it. It's my summer project...after June for me. The tiers/pillars I bought are solid. I can't put anything inside of them.

I just started my first nano tank and I find it so difficult to scape such a small tank.
After hours I can up with this in the picture.
I think I can do better any opinions ?
I want ample room for corals to grow out but the tank is just so tight

I always think the 'island' idea is best in a cube.
