A GUIDE TO ADVANCED AQUASCAPING

Iwagumi is the name of the style using stones that many Reef keepers should learn. It is based on the Japanese Rock garden rules 3 ,5 and 7 stones as well as the golden ratio.
One can use a grid placed on the front of your aquarium to see how to place the rocks and corals.

This method helps with lighting and shadows, great post

Thoughts on this aquascape? Broke down my Red Sea 500 over three years ago, just now getting it back up and running. I tried posting a short video to show better dimension but, the system won't let me select it from my gallery...

I’m currently working one the scape for my new system. I’ve watched every youtube vidio I could find. Brs NSA, tidal gardens NSA and a girl who went into basic art principles were my favorites. Since I’m planning to use the pakani shelf and Tonga branch fro my current system For specific corals and clams I used aluminum foil to mock up general shape and scale of what I had and what I wanted. The structure I built outa 20 lbs reef saver ,30-2 gram tubes super glue gel, 30-3 gram bottles original super glue and 4 oz g5 epoxy. will be all acropora I used a pneumatic chisel to break the rock (don’t push to hard it’ll jam in the rock) also I used a sharpie to Mark where I wanted to glue. I ordered an additional 20 lbs of rock because I got nervous. I wish I hadn’t I won’t need it. I also ordered two 8 oz bottles from glue masters wich hasn’t shown up yet. Here’s some So far. I didn’t buy base because I want prawn gobbles to burrow under the rock

I am working on some dry rock sculptures for my new 57g inspired by tabling coral reefs...

Here's a sample of a segment I originally built for a 10g nano, but that I'm now going to incorporate into my larger tank

My barely three month old tank.. the rock is all Fiji Tonga I bought from the guy I bought the tank from... I kind of made a wall with TONS of caves and space behind for flow and fish to swim. Then a sort of plateau design on the other side.. idk. I hadn’t had a tank in over 10 years so just winged it.. I like how it came out.

Some of the pics came out kind of dark. The tank has a few scuffs - but I wanted to get back into salt for under a grand. I went a little over with the extra stuff I had to buy but not too far over. I got the tank with all pumbing + sump stand and canopy and rock and sand for $450. That’s 100lbs in a 100gal tank. Still not sure what I’m going to do with the plateau side.. maybe I can get a nem to anchor there.. or just glue little frags on the flat areas.. who knows. Right now just letting the tank mature.

What are you all using to bond your aquacapes together?

Is there a cheaper version of adhesives that can be used purchased from a hardware store that's reef safe? The stuff at the fish stores is quite expensive

Can those fiberglass drive way markers be used to support the aquascape?

What other options are there for support materials?

Working with a box of rocks to make something interesting
