One of the most amazing small reefs I've seen was a 40B with 2 power heads, a heater, and an ATO. Full blown SPS. There are pictures of it somewhere on R2R but I can't find them anymore.

I'm tempted to set up something similar with a 55g.

Give in to the temptation.. you could use a new project ;)

More projects is the last thing I need! I can't keep up with my current list!

So what's one more? :D
Umm... Sleep? :p
I already have everything I would need including the tank, 2 MP40's, heaters, an Apex Jr and lights. Don't think it would cost me a thing other than to build a stand. Heck, I even have plenty of spare rock.
But.. sleep matters!

Building a headboard and footboard for a new bed we just had delivered is a higher priority. Happy wife > Happy reef.

You’ve never lost a frag?
Never. It was touch and go at the beginning though, everything was bleaching out, I was taking water to the LFS all the time and testing for everything I could, had no idea what was wrong. My first coral, a purple hammer, was slowly dying and I kept moving it trying to make it happy again (which I’m sure made it worse).

turns out it was the simplest possible issue: my temp was way too high due to a faulty thermometer. Once I fixed that it’s been nothing but growth and coloring up ever since.

I would have thought bottomed phosphates.

Got some top down sps shots during my wc last night. Ca is slowly climbing, up to 340 now! Hard to get a good pic of the JF Burnin Banana, the polyps retract as soon as I move the hood.
