Lots of red phosphorus in trailer home labs out here in the Sacramento valley. I wonder what they're cooking up? LolI'm glad you guys got that one
Controller?? What are THOSE?! doesn’t everyone have to unplug their returns to turn them off?The controller for my jebao return pump s**t the bed after using feed mode 3 or 4 times.
Now it's on or off only.
When we went from summer to fall and got cold overnight my tank temp dropped from 78 to 76...I had to crank up the heater to max temp to keep my tank the correct temp overnight.
6 weeks later same thing happens except as I said the heater is maxed out so I had to buy the next size larger heater.
Apex alerted me both times my temp dropped too low.
BTW; I threw a second heater in until my larger heater arrived.
same...one item under $100 thats only 40 bucksMan my SS recipients only thing on his list is $250, atleast I gave options from $10 to $750 ;Bored
I run an Eheim Jager 200 watt in a 40 breeder with 10 gallons in my sump. Upgraded from 150 watt.I agree that a larger heater could potentially cook the tank. However, if “could” is what the concern is, a meteor “could” crash through your roof and straight into the middle of your reef, and I don’t see a lot of reefs in underground bunkers!
Trick? Risky strategy? from freshwater: get a heater that’s way too big for your tank. It has to be on far less often than something that’s “appropriately sized”. Lasts much longer and is more reliable, and you can get a temp controller relay thingy to prevent tank cooking (if you don’t trust Eheim Jager to make a heater!). My heater is rated for like 90 gallons and is actually slightly too large to even fit in the back, but barely has to run even at night. During the day the issue is overheating anyway, this thing might last forever...fingers crossed...

The floor in my house gets cold in winter (like from the knees down), drafty old farm house.

Don't a lot of people did, I did too.Now I feel like a jerk for even jokingly putting a tank on mine.
I saw tanks on other people's lists. That's why I did mine. It was just a joke.Don't a lot of people did, I did too.
It is a wish list after all, you never know who ya get right?
Just sayin', don't feel bad about it.
(if you don’t trust Eheim Jager to make a heater!).
So is mine, I don't expect anyone to get me my dream tank waterbox peninsula. LOLI saw tanks on other people's lists. That's why I did mine. It was just a joke.
I wanna try one of the new BRS titanium heaters but just got that Eheim so that one will be next.I don't and no one should, there are a zillion threads out there with Eheims failing in the on position and cooking tanks. It's such an issue that even BRS suggests tossing your heaters once every year or two and getting new ones. At a minimum you should have a temp controller but I prefer on not having to rely on a system to shut something off. Using two slightly undersized heaters solves the same problem and involves 0 controllers to do it. The odds are astronomical that two heaters would fail in the on position at the same time in the same tank. And even at that it still wouldn't have the same effect as one oversized heater. Just my opinion, I won't ever run a heater that's rated for more than my tank...
