In other news — my magnificent foxface ran into a rainbow green Haddoni. Well — let’s just say that both are now 6” under, RIP under an apricot tree! It has been a bad month for me!

ouch a great fishSo — need to keep the bad news coming right?
Well, I saw an army of ants this morning and couldn’t trace the source. Well — my vlamingii jumped out last night and landed behind the tank! Just found him and the ants were having a buffet.
(sigh)
I got him as a baby and the blue dots started to come out. Everyday is a new adventure for me! Haouch a great fish
Thought it’s only good for corals though? Why ozone would help? One weapon I will have incorporated is Ozone. I won't run it for more than one hour at night.
You have earned it ENJOYI’ve been dosing vodka to frag tank for nutrient control. Guess that can wait tonight — I’ll dose it by the liters somewhere else instead! lol
Hmmm - I’ve always thought UV was the weapon of choice but seems like more like for algae control?Routinely used to improve water clarity, increase the ORP, Sterilization Effect: Ozone has a sterilizing effect on harmful pathogens, bacteria, viruses, and parasites in the water column. While it won’t eliminate parasites on fish, it reduces the risk of disease transmission by lowering pathogen levels in the water.
UV is great I used to run 800W UV on each commercial facility fish systems. It definitely helps with many negatives. The issue is that only a portion of the water is passed through the UV. It has to be run at slower flow rates to really be successful. I would only run ozone for 1 hour at night. When you use it with your skimmer it really reduces dissolved solid. I don’t have a flow meter but the flow rate to the dual 57w Ultraviolet UVs is low, controlled manually by a ball valve. They definitely help with the algae growth on the glass though.UV is great I used to run 800W UV on each commercial facility fish systems. It definitely helps with many negatives. No UV is far superior for disease controlI don’t have a flow meter but the flow rate to the dual 57w Ultraviolet UVs is low, controlled manually by a ball valve. They definitely help with the algae growth on the glass though.
I always thought that UV will help contain the spreading of diseases but apparently not. So you’re saying that running ozone is better than UV in terms of disease containment? All this time I thought O3 was purely used for clear water display.
I dont know if it was proven or not. Maybe Jay knowsI’ve read some anecdotally that some (yellow) tangs developed hlle when exposed to O3 & GAC? Not sure if proven but can be a risk.
