Are AI Primes sufficient enough for SPS?

What's your PAR like? Love the look of it.

I do own a apogee par meter
The upper left shelf with the birdsnest is the highest mounting point it’s getting 325 par

I don’t keep a high scape. The torches are mid level and it’s 200-250 as you move horizontally at that level

The sandbed is 100-150

I run the fixture with these settings -
Red - 5
green - 5
Blue - 40
White - 10
Royal blue - 40
Violet/uv - 40

dang, you're making me get the itch to spend needless money on this wallet-crushing hobby. Love how high you can mount it too and still get those levels... Might be my next type of light one day.

Nice those are 30’s?? That’s some high butt par lol I’d be so afraid to burn my LPS

Ya they are 30s. I run everything at 100%, but honestly you don't need to run them nearly that high.

The lps I do have are in shaded areas, but I only keep lps where I can't place acros.

Wow! One light to cover entire tank for half the price! What’s maximum PAR you’ve reached with it?

I never maxed it to 100 because this is more than sufficient but I have cranked it and can easily get 500+ on that top left shelf with the bonsai, with room to spare

This is their par map over a 48” tank

As an extra bonus with the photon, the light comes with both the tank mount legs (shown in my pic) and the hanging kit included in the price

Your acan doesn’t mind being at 100+ PAR? I’ve read they only do well in 25-75 par. Not sure if that information is correct though lol I don’t own any Acans yet but would love to soon
Not true, but you do need to acclimate. I reduce the light 10-15% for a week, then bump back up slowly to current settings

Acans can do fine in 100 par.

My light is centered over the tank and I have the acans against the front glass which is a 100 par zone

Also depends on what they were raised on before you get them. These came from led lit tanks so they were used to led upon arrival

You won’t even need supplement light bars. This isn’t a point source light where everything comes from a puck with a fisheye lens. All your lighting comes from a matrix of leds, top down. So things are evenly lit, all the colors are blended well.

you don’t need to spend 2000$ to light a 75g tank. One photon can do it all. Look at my coral colors, everything is vibrant.

Probably doesn’t help that I have egg crate lid on my tank as well lol…
I know a lid guy, makes custom polycarbonate lids. My 75g is a standard aqueon - needed two lids to fit in the tank frame. $120 for the pair. No charge for customizations

Cut down on evaporation dramatically. Water builds up then drips back in the tank. Keeps salinity stable and makes top off less frequent

Would need 4 primes min

There are threads with people using 4 primes on a 75g and still needing to supplement with led bars to get proper par. And people saying you need 6 primes for a 75g.

Prime is great for small tanks but once you get into the larger and deeper tanks they are weak.

You could add a T5 hybrid 4 bulb and you would have enough for less demanding SPS. Can probably find a 36” or 48” unit for $200-250

You should take a look to reefi uno 2.1 pro . 2 or 3 will be Perfect Lighting for your tank and will grow sps wall-to-wall
