Algae grown on the mantle of maxima clam

Hi everyone,

I am new to the reef2reef forum and also reef tank. Recently I bought a maxima clam. But sooner or later, I found the phosphate level is too high (>2ppm), which kills the Duncan and hammer coral inside. I used phosphate removal to reduce the phosphate down to 0.25. My clam still opens everyday, but I feel the mantle not as bright as before and it seems to have a brown algae covered on top. Will my clam die afterwards? Thanks!
