too busy to drop a cube in some water. So I guess you are no better then sea lab 28 your claims are false for your investigation. Appears you are all talk or full of excuses. You made a whole post bashing something for false claims and you did the exact same thing. I find that hilarious
And??? You never gave the results of the experiment. I’m guessing you were wrong since you didn’t follow up on a long post about an experiment.
Welp we found the sealab plants

Day 11.... just took this picture.

These cubes are taking forever to dissolve lolol. I think this experiment may take a while.

To my eye both are dissolving, although very slowly. I'm actually a little shocked the RODI isn't dissolving faster

Needs some flow. Simple diffusion to carry away released ions is an extremely slow process. I expect salt mix on the bottom of a still mixing barrel will likewise take an extremely long time to dissolve.

I agree. I'm giving a few stirs a day but this likely isn't enough.

I'm trying to think of a cost effective way to get some flow into this. I have a singular stir bar and might alternate going back and forth between stirring each solution.

Seems to me they are working as advertised lol. There was a youtuber lazy reefer who plucked these in his sump and used them for years. Then things went south and he checked his dkh and it was 5. So I wouldn't trust it to hold alk steady. Nor would I use this for any semi serious reef tank.

It just means they're *slow* to dissolve.

Both appear to be dissolving, which in the saltwater mix shouldn't be happening given their claims. While the relative rates don't actually matter, given that the RODI cube hasn't dissolved yet means my experiment is *definitely not* finished (i.e. this cube is the lower bound on how long it will take to dissolve).

For curiosity, once the RODI water dissolves the cube, I'll send it off for an ICP test to determine what's actually in it!

How? If sealab's claims were correct then the cube in the salt mix should never dissolve.
