Not a ton new tank developments to report except that I’m seeing BIG improvements in my algae issues!!!

I think my lights being too high was a contributing factor along with feeding pellets that had a lot going straight into the overflow. Adding another turbo snail and Benny the Starry Blenny to the CUC certainly didn’t hurt, either!

I caved today and got two very tiny red legged hermits to add to the CUC team, but I’ll be watching them around my snails. For now, they’re so much tinier than my snails I think we’re ok and I’ll be sure to get some spare shells.

I’m hoping to make it to a local reef group’s bus trip this month to Chicago to visit some reef stores, but I’m not sure what to get. Duncans are on my list and I’d like another fish to round out my fish team, but I’m not sure what. Here’s what I have so far that any fish would need to fit in with:

2 saddleback clowns
1 BTA
Benny the Starry Blenny, my bestest boy
Assorted snails and 2 teeny red legged hermits

Anyone who joins in needs to be reef safe, not a jerk to everyone already there and not super expensive or difficult to keep. Bonus points if they’re cute or have a fun personality.

Have a good night everyone!

Everything is growing and thriving. Benny the Blenny is getting fat from his algae control efforts and while you still can find plenty of it, it’s steadily improving.

I think my next purchase is going to be a Kasa smart outlet so I can automate my feedings, then an ATO system for my Hydros. I have a coupon to use for riptide now, so I’ll look for some easy care corals there…maybe more zoas?

And I do think at some point Cardinals to round out the fish team.

I’m so happy with how the tank is going this time around!!!

In other news, my husband is doing much the same. His kidneys are still too bad to do much more testing for his heart. He hasn’t had another heart attack, but he has withdrawn even more. I only hear from him if I check on him to see if he’s doing ok and even then it’s just a text.

The kittens are thriving and into everything and along with the dogs, teens, and my tank, I am surrounded with love and support. I just wish there was something I could do.

How are you liking the feeder? I've been eyeballing one of those..
I really like it!

For one, it keeps the food in the tank rather than on the surface, so it’s not going over into the overflow. I also like that it mixes the food with water before it enters the tank.

My clowns go nuts over the reef jerky and I like that it’s a mix of stuff. I was feeding TDO pellets before and they didn’t get this excited.

I will say it’s probably WAY overkill for a nano tank and would probably be even more useful for micro-feeding a bigger tank. I also am looking forward to getting it and my return pump and wave maker on a smart strip so I can automate turning off my pumps and turning on the plank for feedings. Once I move next summer and can put things on hydros smart outlets, I plan to move it to that.

It’s something I wouldn’t have sprang for myself, but it’s a really nice product and I’d say worth every penny for bigger tanks.

I use a different brand of Smart Outlets. They're working great! I currently run 8 of them.

Soo…

My numbers still look about the same:
IMG_7863.jpeg

I’d call that zero nitrate
IMG_7861.jpeg

And phos looks to be 0.25-0.5

So…what do the @cronies say? Should I continue to hold off on WC’s?

I have a 5g saltwater mixing. I’m guessing that’s fine to just sit with a pump aerating it until it’s time to WC?

Thanks yall!!! I’d probably be doing dumb drastic things if it weren’t for you guys!

I used to do that for my RFA and serpent starfish years ago. At Publix, they’d give me one for free.
