Hypnea is looking a little unhappy , pretty sure the extended shipment time. It's rather purple pinkish than blue.

Holding hope.

Dinos in there a bit. Main tank is fine. Thinking now maybe the new tank just needed time before algae but we will see. Hindsight always clearer.

Other specimens are doing well. Producing bubbles of O2

Yeah. I figured it would be fine since it's all connected. Maybe starting there. Is better

I love that type of advice. Certainly couldn't hurt. Might accelerate the helpfulness.

I can’t imagine macro algae would be very happy in an environment that has low nutrients. Again though…. I’m just winging it over here.

It was low

I gotta retest today. I did a big dump per Frank flagging the lowness. The skimmer drain plug was clogged . So nitrates were getting low low.

Been a few days good to retest.

Idk how y'all with high nutrients hold it like that. You say feed and more fish. I have a decent amount. Don't clean the sump sand . It's crazy.

Some macroalgae takes up nutrients crazy fast. I use aquarium plant fertilizer to keep them up. I know other people use stuff like cheato gro.

Got chaeto grow for the mangroves .

So even after dumping all that Skim nutrients still low 4 days later. Just cleaned the lid, scrapped the thicker gunk in the sump.

Probably the dinos soaking them up again.

Will stay on it

Dumped about 6 cups of skimmate in system total. Cleaned the cup in a bucket . Dumped it back in.

30ml of calcium nitrate and 20ml phos

Gotta get the nutrients back up. Fuge lights off for a day. Knock back dinos let nutrients come back up. Might have been too early for algae. Shoulda let the tank settle.

To do list; get nutrients up, mud, cables

You can dose nitrates and phosphates as well. Brightwell has both and I have used both with success.

O ya ! Been dosing calcium nitrate and trisodium phosphate for awhile. Just gotta redial it in.

Much easier on the wallet than bright well.

I put a heck ton of skimmate back into the column. Skimmer lid was foaming out the top. Gotta retest today see where we are at.

Main display is fine still.

I'll check in with y'all on thoughts and numbers later!

Tested almost zero yesterday before the dumping.

Happily reporting , day off in fuge cut dinos back pretty good. Got a small power head in there now too that's doing work.
