1/2" glass? is that extra narrow piece on the right for some bracing?
Yep! And Yep! You are good haha, the plan is to cut it into some strips for bracing. Didn't need super nice polished edges.

This is exactly the same size I'm planning on building! I'll be dismantling and cutting down a 180gal tank for the glass though. its 3/4" glass so I won't need any bracing. Looking forward to your build though!
how much did that run you? The glass here was roughly $1k. came with nice beveled edges. May drill tomorrow for the overflow box from @modularmarine

Hey all, check-in .

Holes have been drilled for the overflow. Next thing on the list is planning plumbing. Anyone know if a 2inch bulkhead would be fine for an overflow?

Could use the same holesaw if so. Will post in a minute once dry the overflow dry install

that looks sexy and should have enough room for your euro brace. its a fiji cube overflow that pushes in right?
Yep! Modular Marine is the manufacturer.

I have seen mixed advice as far as bracing vs not bracing this size of aquarium. Planning to attempt some 1.5-2 inch strips on the long sides at least. This is my first attempt working with glass. Drilling went ok, but i think cutting/braking will be rougher.

whatever suits your style and as long as you use good silicone and attach the panels properly. the seams are what's most important. too many stories out there about big name brands having air pockets and bursting. My Friend's 240 gal just sprung a leak a month or so ago.

Going with GE SCS1201 Clear 1200 Construction Silicone thats what was rated well amoungst the top.

Trying to figure out if i should just drill the overflow using the same 2 inch hole saw that the overflow uses? Can a Return Bulkhead be too big?

your overflow box should have came with the bulkhead required. This is the back of my Fiji cube and it presses into the 2" bulkhead that they supplied. if you can go bigger with yours and want to, you can always control flow with a gate valve.

O sorry I meant return bulk head. There's no return currently . Was going to do a single return line from the sump. 2 inch would be the same size as I just drilled.

Duh.. my reading comprehension is not great now adays. my returns are 3/4. so youre going to put 2" bulkheads and use reducers?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I guess I'll order tonight , test fit and decide if I need to drill smaller for returns.
