Gr, thought I was dealing with Dino’s. Didn’t look like it under a microscope..

Hard to tell what that is from the pics what that is for sure. Is it just on the algae? Also, what's the flow like in your tank? What powerheads are you using? It could be dinos, or it could be cyano. #reefsquad any help?

Mainly on the algae. I have had some hair algae on bed, not in a lot of places but in a few. Currently have a PP-4. I moved it recently from the back of the tank to the middle. I started with it on "else" but it was moving my heavier sand bed around so i switched it to W1 (wave) on power 3.

Because of this issue I just moved it to the back again. I'll turn it on else for a few hours just to move debris around so I can remove with filter floss.

What did you see in the microscope - tiny sticks?

Sincerely Lasse

Looked like longer sticks. Dinos are short sticks correct?

Cool setup! Fellow Lagoon 25 reefer here...following! I know you were asking about the heater placement, I put mine in the second chamber from the left. Fits great.

I ended up putting mine inside return pump section. Heater controller probe in the second from right.

These are neat tanks. I like how easy water changes are compared to my old set ups (70 and a 125 gallon).

Yea, they are! I do a 5 gallon change per week on mine and seems to work out great. I just seen that Innovative Marine releases a desktop UV sterilizer that fits like a filter sock in the left or right compartment. I definitely have my eye on one of those.

I’ve changed a few things with my set up.

My SC dynamite chalice has some tissue loss so I’ve removed the kalk from my ato and reduced the flow in the tank a bit. I’ve also stopped dosing phyto and I’m only feeding LRS and mysis shrimp (had added in krill and fish eggs). I’m also focusing on feeding every day. I reduced the light significantly for a bit as well. I did a 5 gallon water change and will just maintain and see how things look.

The algae issues I was having are gone in the last few days. The chalice issue are still resolving. I’m looking for dosing pumps to dose two part. I need to read why more people don’t just dose kalk instead of two part. The chalice has put on two eyes since I added to tank so I had been in a good place for awhile! Fingers crossed!

I still want to ramp up flow but having issues with the dimensions of my cube. So far nothing I’ve done has made everything happy. I’ve gone minimal with flow for the time being.

still losing a little flesh on chalice.. hoping I can get it turned around with slow changes. Alk still around 8/9, hoping for 7/8. Bounce army continues to grow (9 now).

6/18/18
P-0.55 ppm (Hannah)
N-38ish ppm (Red Sea)

I think I figured out my problem.

6/18/18
5 gallon water change and re-tested;
P-0.37 (Hannah)
N-20-30ppm ish (Red Sea)

I have about 15 gallons so the math works out. Couple of more 5 gallon water changes this week and hopefully things will turn around. Turns out I am feeding waaay to much!

6/19/18
another 5 gallon water change
P-0.40 ppm (Hannah)
N-1-2ppm ish (Red Sea)

I don't know that I trust either of these test results. Both kits have terrible reagents to work with. The Hannah P kit didn't completely dissolve and the nitrate is pretty hard to visually confirm. Either way I'm feeding less and hopefully my P and N aren't as out of wack as they look.

The corals are looking happier but I'm still losing flesh on my SC Dynamite chalice. A friend says I play with my tank to much.. and he's right. I need to keep my hands out!

6/20
Took a sample of water to a trusted reefer friend.
P-0.09ppm
N-10ppm
Alk-10

Trust his test kits more than mine. Not sure if it’s my testing failure or what. Either way the corals are looking much happier with the two water changes. Did a third one tonight just to be on the safe side.

SC dynamite has begun to regain flesh! Yay!!

I ordered a box of Kent which has lower alk. I’m hoping to minimize alk and other fluctuations in tank.

Hands off is my new moto!

I gave a friend a bounce and she got hers to take off. I’ve tried, but they just haven’t spread/grown like hers did. I’ve been feeding a lot but may need to feed more. Hard to balance with a small tank!!
