30 day experiment tank: Experiment over, moved to Phyto dosing

I use to run a homemade DE filter, with this(see picture) last 10 days, then recharge. 4.5 x20 inches tall.

Are you leaving that in constant use? And if so what typeof flow are you putting thru it and how much de powder do you charge it with? That is a neat idea.

This is one of my filters after an hour or so with 2 tablespoons of DE powder being fed by a Danner mag 8. It is usually clogged by then.

Been a while. I have some pretty cool growth shots to compare before and after. I have dumped all the bottles and supplements.. I have been culturing my own phyto and brine along with using Aquavitro Fuel.

Here is the current results. The coolest was the jack o lantern lepto frag. I looks dead, now it is coming back.

Depends on what phyto you are dosing. Are you culturing your own or purchasing it. Different culture has different strength. Even my batches are made by eyeball. I try to go by color but not really accurate as far as strength.

I put in 80-100 ML a day, I have built up. I would start 5ml and watch. You don’t want to promote an algae bloom. Then slowly build maybe to 15.

It is not hard and really cheap to do at home. I bought 1 bottle of Montana starter and fertilizer and have been running off that since with minimal effort or time.

I buy the ones from algaebarn. It is a mix of nanno, iso, tetra and phae. I started with 15 ml. It’s more of a lighter green in color.

I would dose what they recommend. I have used their product and like it. That is what got me started doing my own.

I culture the nano/tetra. I make it as dark as I can before getting worried it will crash. I put in the fridge. When I get to the last few bottles I use one of the bottles to start a new culture with fertilizer.

Silly question: how do I use the inbuilt measure on the neck of the bottle? I can’t get any liquid to go into it.

No silly questions here. Do you have both caps off? You leave the main cap on and the small measure cap off. Squeeze slow or it will squirt out.

Long time, no update. UNTIL NOW

I still am culturing off the very first starter phyto I received. I am dosing in the AM and Aquavitro Fuel 2x’s a week. These were all small frags from some where in the prior pages

Here be some quick pics. I a, in the middle of cleaning up and fragging the overgrowth. Been Neglecte for a while.

I forgot to add in my prior post that I also feed the PNS Yellow Sno from @AlgaeBarn. I had used the bio which they sold as a kit which was great, but I did not have a need for it. But the yellow Sno was really nice in conjunction with my phyto, pods, and roids I feed.
