I didn't hate LotR because it was woke, I hated it because it was bad haha. Those wood elves were like fingernails on a chalkboard, and the quality of the show couldn't help but be compared to a) the movies, and b) House of the dragon, going on at the same time, far superior

Yeah that was my general feelings as well. It just wasn't a good show. The reality was that Arondir was the only elf that actually acted like an elf, and the most endearing scenes were between Elrond, Durin, and Disa.

The show got caught up in the modern marketing trend going on that was discovered in 2016 with that version of Ghostbusters. Hollywood stumbled upon a wonderful marketing tool: race/gender baiting. You delete reviews/comments saying the show wasn't good because of its merits, boost the one or two comments that have bigoted messaging, then market the product saying that if you didn't like it then it's just because you hate insert group here. It's a great way to shield regurgitated, I mean rebooted, content from criticism while it also makes for great click-bait marketing articles. All the while, gender and race mean absolutely nothing to 99% of audience members so long as it's good, creative, entertaining content. Problem is, Hollywood is making literal financial bets on endlessly rebooting old material because they think it's a safer investment, and that gets old pretty quick. So, you gotta have a draw to try and bring viewers out. Insert Ghostbusters 2016 and call it a day.

This is also the reason the dislike button was removed from YouTube.
