DAILY QUESTION: What tips do you have for new aquarists about choosing the right reef lighting?
Do a lot of investigating on the spread and par of various light systems for the type of corals you are wanting to keep, look for a system with an app that lets you control the duration of these lights along with different channels to control the intensity of the light giving you an ability to tune the system to your desired needs. Lastly stay within a budget.

DAILY QUESTION: What tips do you have for new aquarists about choosing the right reef lighting?
Decide on what kind of corals you want, find out their lighting requirements. Look for a light that can give you those things and then get something that can achieve that and surpass it because you will eventually change your mind on corals. You can turn down most leds but you can only turn them up so far.

DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
Based on my discussion with Orphek and a review of the literature, I expect an improvement in the blending and the ability to move the lights a little lower, which will be helpful for fitting in my canopy.

DAILY QUESTION: What’s your opinion on the role of lighting in creating a balanced aquarium ecosystem?
I think that somethings need light to thrive and others need dark to survive. Using lighting (and shade) makes both possible. Also, some things in our tanks need more light than others so placement is key.

DAILY QUESTION: What’s your opinion on the role of lighting in creating a balanced aquarium ecosystem?
It’s the energy of the tank. Nothing is more important then it

DAILY QUESTION: What’s your opinion on the role of lighting in creating a balanced aquarium ecosystem?
After nutrients/stability, I think it is the most important aspect. Lighting to the right intensity and spectrum can be the difference between a Reef thriving or failing.
