DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
DAILY QUESTION RESPONSE:
  1. Richer Colors: The Natura iCon's spectrum is likely to enhance the natural pigments in your corals, leading to more vibrant and richer colors. This is particularly true for SPS (Small Polyp Stony) corals, which often respond dramatically to optimized lighting.
  2. Improved Fluorescence: Corals that exhibit fluorescence under actinic light may show even more pronounced fluorescence under the Natura iCon, especially with its balanced blue and violet wavelengths.
  3. Enhanced Growth and Health: Beyond just color, the right spectrum can promote better coral health, which in turn can lead to more intense coloration as the corals thrive.
  4. Customization for Specific Needs: With the advanced spectrum controls of the Natura iCon, you can fine-tune the light settings to target specific coral species, enhancing their unique colors based on their individual requirements.
  5. Stability Over Time: The advanced technology in the Natura iCon is designed to provide consistent light output over time, ensuring that your corals maintain their coloration without degradation due to light spectrum shifts or intensity drops.

DAILY QUESTION: What experiences have you had with moonlight cycles and their effects on nocturnal reef activity?
DAILY QUESTION RESPONSE:
  1. Coral Spawning: Many corals are known to synchronize their spawning events with lunar cycles. Implementing a moonlight cycle that mimics natural lunar phases can potentially encourage this natural behavior, although it requires consistent and precise lighting over time.
  2. Nocturnal Feeding: Some nocturnal reef fish and invertebrates become more active during specific phases of the moonlight cycle. For example, certain species of shrimp and crabs may increase their foraging activities under a dim moonlight setting, as it provides enough light for them to see without exposing them to predators.
  3. Predator and Prey Dynamics: Moonlight can affect the predator-prey relationships within the tank. Predatory fish might become more active during brighter moonlight phases, while prey species may seek shelter or display different behaviors to avoid detection.
  4. Stress Reduction: Gradual transitions in light, such as those provided by a well-programmed moonlight cycle, can help reduce stress for your reef inhabitants. Sudden changes in light intensity can startle fish and other creatures, but a smooth transition mimicking natural moonrise and moonset helps create a more stable environment.
  5. Aesthetic and Observation Benefits: Beyond biological effects, moonlight cycles also provide a unique viewing experience. The soft glow can enhance the appearance of your reef tank at night, highlighting the fluorescence of corals and creating a serene atmosphere that reveals a different side of reef life.

My corals are pretty cored up but would like a less blue spectrum that's more appealing to the eye whilst still maintaining the blue spectrum needed
But imagine the extra different pinks you could pull! Barbie Pink, Rose Pink, Pink Cadillac...

DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
Andrew Sanders of Polo Reef and Vic of World Wide Corals has a video out on YouTube talked about the Advantages & limitations of LED's for his application. Andrew goes on to explain that Metal Halides have an easier UV spectrum level attainability as compared to LED's because one they are too expensive to place into a fixture and two they don't last as long as other LEDs. @luxdium put out a great chart: " [3] UV Spectral Composition Analysis Without Glass Cover (230-399nm)". Here are my expectations: Does Advanced Spectrum & UV share qualities in color enhancement? Some corals just have it that POP! ( Bio-lumenessence). when we dial in those colors we like from our lighting systems, are we accentuate those existing colors?. I have personally have seen coral change color. In theory we are not really adding to the existing corals or are we? if Natura iCOn's has some how figured to tap into this hidden knowledge then I am super excited not for me maybe winning a light but for the reefing community!!!

DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
I hope to replicated the look of the reef tank you guys showed using the the Natura iCon's.

Having more of a white light look while also using the other spectrum at their best ability to feed my corals.

DAILY QUESTION: What are your expectations for coral color enhancement with the Natura iCon’s advanced spectrum?
With a true spectrum as low as the 400 wavelength I'd expect to really get some deep popping colors out of corals.

DAILY QUESTION: What tips do you have for new aquarists about choosing the right reef lighting?
1st, do some research on whichever light you're thinking. You might find that option isn't good or even just an alternative. 2nd, find what fits your budget, within reason. Nowadays, you can get some really quality lights for pretty cheap. Lastly, try to measure par for your schedule/settings.

IMO don't buy used and go for a good light right away, you will save money in the long run.

Check for spread and depth par values.

Lights with a good app and customer service is a plus.
